On April 13, Dong Nai province authorities coordinated with relevant units to determine the initial cause and propose a solution to the incident of a container ship colliding with Dong Nai bridge.

According to the captain of the barge Phuoc Long 72, Ngo Van Toi, on the morning of April 12, he controlled this vehicle to move to Binh Duong general port.

When reaching the water area in front of the port, Mr. Toi controlled the barge to turn around to dock on the right side of the bridge. During the turning process, the barge was pushed by the water current and got stuck under the Dong Nai road bridge.

After the incident, Mr. Toi reported the incident to Dong Nai Maritime Port Authority and requested assistance. Dong Nai Maritime Port Authority dispatched two tugboats (TN01 and Sowatco 38) to assist the vehicle. At around 8:00 a.m. the same day, the Phuoc Long 72 barge was separated from Dong Nai road bridge and then docked at Binh Duong wharf.

Initially, the authorities determined the damage recorded from span N5K4, N5K5 to N5K6: the diagonal steel connecting beams were warped, the drainage holes were damaged, the load-bearing longitudinal beams had broken connecting bolts, the longitudinal beams of the sidewalk were warped...
