On August 15, Dr. Nguyen Duy Long - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City 115 Emergency Center - said that the city's 115 emergency network has officially launched two new satellite emergency stations in the old Binh Duong area, including the 115 satellite station belonging to Binh Duong General Hospital and Military Hospital 4.

According to Dr. Long, before July 1, Binh Duong had not established the 115 Emergency Center. Emergency care outside the hospital was mainly undertaken by local medical units, and had not been coordinated and unified in terms of procedures and management.

People in need of emergency care often have to contact the nearest hospital or medical center directly, leading to differences in response speed and quality.

From July 1, all calls from people to 115 will be routed to the 115 Emergency Center of Ho Chi Minh City.

Here, information is received, consulted and coordinated centrally, helping to manage the entire system more uniformly, synchronously and systematically.

Up to now, some positive results have been recorded according to statistics from July 1 to 31 as follows: the total number of calls received was about 9,000, of which 452 were emergency calls, an increase of 305% compared to the previous average call (in 2024, the total number of emergency calls in the Binh Duong area (old) was 1,780).

These figures show the clear effectiveness of routing the 115 prefix to a single point and expanding the satellite station network.

Not only does it help shorten the time of reception and treatment, but it also improves the ability to reach people faster in emergency situations. The 115 Emergency Center will continue to invest in resources, technology and personnel to serve the community better and better, aiming at the goal of "Fast emergency - Safe life" in emergency work outside the hospital.

"After merging and coordinating centrally through the 115 number, the number of vehicle dispatches, patient access and hospital transfers all increased significantly, with an increase of more than 50% in most indicators. People will have faster access to healthcare, including in remote areas. And in the near future, we will expand the satellite emergency station in Vung Tau (old), completing the professional external emergency network," said Dr. Long.

At the launching ceremony, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health Huynh Minh Chin said that the synchronous deployment of the outpatient emergency system in neighboring areas is an important step in the implementation roadmap of Project 912 of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on Developing a professional outpatient emergency system for the period up to 2030 and the following years.

Therefore, satellite stations need to be well prepared in terms of human resources, facilities and medical equipment. Standardization of expertise in out-of-hospital emergency care is not only required for medical staff in the emergency department, but also for staff in clinical departments in the hospital, to be ready to participate in all emergency situations, especially those involving mass casualties.

Reduce waiting time, increase survival rate in emergency

The Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health added that as the network of 115 satellite stations continues to expand, people in Ho Chi Minh City will receive faster support, reduce waiting times, increase the ability to save lives and improve the quality of emergency medical care.

The launch of two 115 satellite emergency stations is not only a milestone in scale but also affirms the determination of the health sector in putting people's health and lives first, especially in emergency situations.
