Vietnam considers declaring end of Covid-19 epidemic
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Vietnam has had 11.6 million cases, ranking 13th out of 231 countries and territories. With a rate of 117,232 cases per million people, Vietnam ranks 120th out of 231 countries and territories.
Today, May 19, the country recorded 1,980 more Covid-19 cases
Health departments reported that on May 18, 442 Covid-19 patients were declared cured, with no deaths due to Covid-19. Since the beginning of the epidemic, more than 10.63 million Covid-19 cases in Vietnam have been cured.
At treatment facilities, 88 Covid-19 patients are breathing oxygen. Of these, 78 cases are breathing oxygen via mask, 2 cases are breathing high-flow oxygen HFNC, 3 cases are on non-invasive ventilation and 5 cases are on invasive ventilation.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 43,201 deaths from Covid-19 have been recorded in Vietnam, accounting for 0.4% of the total number of infections. The total number of deaths in our country ranks 26th out of 231 countries and territories; the number of deaths per million people ranks 141st out of 231 countries and territories. Compared to Asia, the total number of deaths in Vietnam ranks 7th out of 50 countries and territories; the number of deaths per million people ranks 29th out of 50 countries and territories.

Regarding the progress of Covid-19 vaccination, the Ministry of Health said that on May 18, 2,471 more doses were administered. Since the beginning of the vaccination campaign, a total of nearly 266.346 million doses have been administered to people nationwide. Of these, more than 223.698 million doses were administered to people aged 18 and over, nearly 24 million doses were administered to children aged 12-17, and nearly 18.682 million doses were administered to children aged 5-11.
