Speaking to CAND Newspaper reporters, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Manh Thang (Captain of Highway Traffic Control Patrol Team No. 3, Traffic Police Department) said that the two officers in the story were Traffic Police Lieutenant Trinh Hai Hoan and Mobile Police Lieutenant Tran Van Thien. At that time, the two officers were patrolling to ensure traffic safety on the route as planned.

Not only Senior Lieutenant Hoan and Lieutenant Thien but all officers and soldiers of the unit are ready to help and support people having problems on the highway regardless of day or night.

Particularly for the April 30 - May 1 holiday this year, the traffic volume on the highway is very high, the unit is on duty 100% of the time during the holiday, regularly patrolling and controlling, on duty along the nearly 170km long highway stretching from National Highway 45 (Thanh Hoa) to Phap Van (Hanoi). The patrol force uses all technical means to ensure traffic order and safety on the entire route that Team 3 is in charge of, to limit congestion and reduce traffic accidents.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Thang, when a vehicle has an accident on the highway, the driver needs to turn on the warning lights, gradually move to the emergency lane, place a reflective triangle sign at least 100m away from the vehicle, and call the hotline 19008099 for support.

"Drivers should not walk on the highway, they should stand outside the guardrail to ensure safety," Lieutenant Colonel Thang emphasized.
