"Compatriots of the Capital!" is a familiar call during the resistance war against French colonialism in Hanoi. During nearly a century under the yoke of French colonialism, especially since the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, many popular struggles took place vigorously, creating a premise for later uprisings.
Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee Pham Tuan Long spoke at the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
The August 1945 general uprising in the form of demonstrations by 200,000 people in and outside Hanoi achieved a glorious victory. From then on, the government in Hanoi was in the hands of the people, welcoming the Declaration of Independence Day on September 2.
The smoke of war continued to cover the streets of Hanoi from the end of 1946, when the French colonialists returned to invade our country. Responding to President Ho's call for national resistance, the entire army and people of Hanoi fought steadfastly, determined to sacrifice everything for the beloved capital.
Director of the State Records and Archives Department Dang Thanh Tung shared at the exhibition opening ceremony.
After years of fierce resistance, the people of the capital joyfully welcomed the victorious army marching to liberate Hanoi. The red flag with yellow star fluttered on the Hanoi Flag Tower, ending a journey full of hardships, sacrifices but extremely heroic and glorious. The capital Hanoi shone with the light of peace, independence and freedom in the days of October 1954.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee Pham Tuan Long said: The exhibition "Hey Capital People!" is a meaningful activity in the series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024) of Hoan Kiem District in particular and Hanoi Capital in general.
