For about a decade, La Liga has seen an unprecedented golden age with Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid and Lionel Messi at Barcelona. The “El Clasico” matches were not only a competition between two of Spain’s most traditional teams, but also a peak confrontation between two of the greatest superstars of modern football. Ronaldo and Messi took turns winning the Ballon d’Or, turning La Liga into a cradle of endless debate, comparison and excitement for fans around the world.
"Ronaldo and Messi have made a huge impact"
When Ronaldo left Real Madrid and Messi left Barcelona, many people thought that La Liga had lost its appeal to football fans. However, former player Christian Karembeu, a legend of Real Madrid (UEFA Champions League champion in 1997-1998 and 1999-2000) and the French national team (World Cup champion in 1998 and EURO 2000) disagreed with that opinion. In an interview with Vietnamese media, the former player born in 1970 said that La Liga has always had great icons: from Maradona, Zidane to Ronaldo "fat"... and will continue to maintain its appeal thanks to new generations.

“Of course, Ronaldo and Messi have had a huge impact on La Liga. But after they left, La Liga's appeal has not diminished. Football continues to develop and always produces new talents. Today, we can see names like Lamine Yamal, Mbappe, Rashford, Bellingham... All are stars who bring new appeal to the tournament. I absolutely believe that La Liga will maintain its position. The fact that La Liga clubs have won many UEFA Champions League titles is proof of that,” Karembeu told Thanh Nien reporter.
"Yamal would win many Ballons d'Or if..."
One of the most talked about names today is Lamine Yamal. At just 18 years old, the player who grew up in La Masia has proven himself to be a shining gem for Barcelona and the Spanish national team. Karembeu did not hesitate to praise: “I think Lamine Yamal has everything needed when it comes to innate talent. He grew up in La Masia, which has built its own football philosophy for Barcelona, producing names like Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets… and now Lamine Yamal. In his first year in the Barcelona first team as well as in the Spanish national team, Yamal has proven his ability. I believe that if he knows how to focus and orient his career properly, he can absolutely win many Golden Balls in the future.”

Along with Yamal, world football is still witnessing the presence of Kylian Mbappe. The French star has moved to Real Madrid, ready to become the new symbol of the Spanish royal team. The potential confrontation between Yamal in Barcelona and Mbappe in Real Madrid reminds fans of the great competition between Messi and Ronaldo in the past.
The new La Liga season promises to be very competitive. Barcelona under Hansi Flick has proven its strength by winning the championship in the first season, while Real Madrid has continuously added top stars. Other teams such as Valencia and Sevilla have also shown ambition by continuously strengthening their squad. With the emergence of a young generation with great potential and blockbuster contracts, La Liga still maintains its position as one of the most attractive tournaments on the planet.

Ronaldo and Messi have closed a brilliant chapter, but Yamal, Mbappe and Vinicius are writing new ones. In the near future, football fans may see El Clasico become the center of world football, but this time with young and ambitious faces.
