Fresh fruits and vegetables are expensive at the end of the year

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, village 3, Dak Nia commune, her family grows nearly 1 sao of cucumbers to sell for Tet. Unlike previous years, this year there is frost and strong wind so the plants have few fruits. Therefore, the selling price has been pushed up by her but there is still not much to sell, many customers ask but there is no product to sell.

Accordingly, the price of cucumbers is 3-4 times higher than normal days and double the price of last year's Tet. On the afternoon of the 28th of Tet, Ms. Tuyet sold 50,000 VND/kg of cucumbers.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich, Nghia Phu Ward, her family grows bitter melon to sell every day. But this Tet crop failed due to frost and strong winds. The selling price is 75,000 VND/kg, 2-3 times higher than usual, but she still does not have enough to sell.

Through research, garden owners and traders all said that this year the prices of other vegetables and tubers are basically stable compared to last year, with no increase compared to normal days. Cucumber and bitter melon are the two fresh fruits with the highest increase in price.
