Homeland in the heart and responsibility for the development of the country

(PLVN) - In recent days, many opinions and discussions have been raised on the Internet surrounding the big story of the arrangement of administrative units at the provincial and communal levels, especially the selection of political-administrative centers and new names of administrative units after the arrangement. The concerns and worries of the people are completely natural and understandable, because "the fatherland" is always a part of the flesh and blood, a sacred source in the consciousness of each person.

Since ancient times, Vietnamese people have valued the village and neighborhood relationships and the homeland - the place where "the umbilical cord was born and raised" - has always been a place for each person to find their roots and nurture their soul. The legendary story "Dragon and Fairy's descendants" has been deeply engraved in the hearts of every Vietnamese person about national pride, solidarity and unity from ancient times of the Vietnamese community.

President Ho Chi Minh - the beloved leader of the nation affirmed: "As descendants of Lac Hong, everyone has more or less patriotism". He advised: "Our people, please remember the word "dong": sympathy, solidarity, unity, alliance" and "Unity, solidarity, great solidarity/Success, success, great success".

The ideology of “great solidarity” of the great President Ho Chi Minh is also the inheritance and development of the beautiful tradition of “descendants of the Dragon and Fairy”, reminding us of the attachment, sharing and responsibility towards the nation, the homeland and the country. Wherever we are, we are still brothers and sisters of the same family, sharing the same blood of Lac Hong, being Vietnamese with red blood and yellow skin!

In the current context, when the country is entering a new era, the era of national growth to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world powers, the rearrangement of administrative units is a major strategic policy of the Party and State.

The ultimate goal is to streamline the apparatus, improve the effectiveness of state management, concentrate and mobilize resources to promote socio-economic development, ensure national defense and security, and ensure the people's prosperity and happiness. Therefore, the merger is not a "loss" but a "reunion", a necessary step to create new administrative units that are larger, stronger, have space for development, and are capable of solving challenges in the new development stage.

Agreeing with the policy of rearranging administrative units as well as streamlining the organizational apparatus, many people have been and are ready to adapt to this important change, sacrificing personal interests for the common interests of the country. However, besides the support, there are still some concerns about the disruptions in life, about the cultural values of the homeland that may be affected when rearranging administrative units.

In particular, there are many people using social networks to express their thoughts and concerns about the arrangement of the province, the name after the arrangement, the location of the new administrative center with negative attitudes, criticism, rejection, even using derogatory words about customs and practices, comparing this locality, that locality, my province is like this, your province is like that... We completely sympathize and share the thoughts and concerns of the people before the merger, naming, and selection of the new political-administrative center of the new administrative unit after the arrangement.

However, the fact that social media users use negative propaganda to cause public confusion is an act that goes against the common interests of the nation and people. It not only creates division in solidarity and localism, but also hinders efforts to develop the country according to the Party's major policies and orientations in the new era and new opportunities of the country.

Indeed, village names, commune names, district names, and province names are not only place names on the map, but also places that preserve cultural and historical values, and are unique marks of each land. But there is a truth that although names and administrative boundaries may change over time, the core values of the homeland are always preserved, promoted, and identified through ancient architectural works, traditional customs, and the language of the people.

“Homeland” is always a “memory” in the dear memories, in the hearts of each person. Looking more broadly, the history of four thousand years of building and defending the country has proven that despite many ups and downs, the cultural soul and spirit of Vietnam always remain eternal. Especially more than a thousand years of Chinese domination - a period that seemed to erase all traces of Vietnamese culture and identity.

However, no matter how much foreign powers try to impose and assimilate culture, economy, and language, the patriotism and will for independence of the Vietnamese people, of the descendants of Lac and Hong, is always a continuous flow, developing strongly, never stopping.

Historic victories such as Bach Dang, Chi Lang, Dong Da, Dien Bien Phu, the victorious Ho Chi Minh Campaign on April 30, 1975... have demonstrated the strong vitality of the spirit of solidarity and patriotism - the "soul" of Vietnam, which cannot be subdued by any force.

Reality also shows that at each revolutionary stage of the country, there are historical requirements. Therefore, after many separations and mergers, although places such as Hoa Lu capital, Thang Long capital, Ai Chau district, Gia Dinh city, Ha Dong city, Pho Hien commercial port... no longer have their old names on the contemporary administrative map, the cultural and historical values of those lands still live forever and are constantly cultivated, developed, and spread through tangible and intangible heritages.

The Hoa Lu Ancient Capital Special National Relic Site, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, Ho Dynasty Citadel, Ben Thanh Market, Van Phuc Silk Village, Pho Hien Special National Relic Site... are cultural evidences of ancient places.

And in the midst of modern life, we still recognize the familiar sound in the typical accents of people from the North, Central, South, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Nam... Traditional dishes and cuisines imbued with the flavors and cultures of each region such as banh chung, banh tet, banh day, bun bo Hue, mi Quang,... will always be a source of pride, fostering the cultural soul and connecting the children of Vietnam across the country and our overseas Vietnamese. Therefore, changing the name is not denying the past but creating the future on the foundation of history and culture.

General Secretary To Lam once said: “When merging, it is right to have the mentality and mood of returning to the homeland, I wholeheartedly share. But the country is the homeland, we must work for common development. Merging to be compact and save money is only a part, merging to create momentum and create room for development is important!”

The General Secretary's words are a strong affirmation of the nation's "compatriot" spirit. The homeland is where we were born and raised, but the Fatherland is the common home of all of us", the country is where our people reunite. On this S-shaped strip of land, every inch of land, every mountain, every river is a part of the flesh and blood of the Fatherland!

And the statement of General Secretary To Lam also opened up for us a profound and responsible perspective on higher priorities, on the destiny of the whole nation: The biggest fear is not the change of administrative name, "losing one's homeland" but the risk of falling behind, losing the nation's position in the international arena.

In the process of national development, changes are inevitable. We need to look at the changes in arrangement, selection of political-administrative center and new administrative name after the arrangement with a constructive spirit, with a vision towards the future. Let's put the interests of the nation and people above all to join hands to build a strong and prosperous Vietnam.

Let the love for our homeland and country and the aspiration for a bright future guide us, do not let negative public opinions hinder the progress of the nation. Because this “beautiful land and rivers” belongs to us and the future of our homeland and country lies in the solidarity and efforts of every Vietnamese citizen.
