After many days of celebrating Tet, Nguyen Phi Hung's family (Ba Dinh, Hanoi) went out to change their breakfast to "get rid of the boredom".
"We've been eating a lot of banh chung, nem, and gio these past few days, so I took my family out to eat bun rieu to avoid getting bored," said Mr. Hung.
On the morning of the third day of Tet, Tran Ngoc Minh (20 years old, Tay Ho) chose a street-front cafe to watch the street and chat with friends.
“This year, I planned to go to a coffee shop to relax and meet friends, but the number of customers made me wait about 10 minutes to get a seat,” Ngoc Minh said.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu, an employee at a crab noodle shop, said that the shop’s peak hours are from 9am to 10am and from 12pm to 1pm. During these times, the shop has 4 employees working at full capacity to serve customers.
“Sometimes when there are a lot of customers, we have to carry things, clean and arrange seats for customers continuously,” Ms. Thu shared.
Ms. Thu said that the number of customers during Lunar New Year increased by about 10-20% compared to normal days.
An employee at a restaurant near Tay Ho Palace said that although the restaurant has increased its staff for Tet, during busy times, all employees still have to work at full capacity.
"The number of people who go to the Tay Ho temple and then stop by the restaurant is very large, often ordering in large numbers, so we have to work continuously to serve them on time," said this employee.
According to Lao Dong Newspaper, on the morning of the 3rd day of Lunar New Year, many restaurants and cafes in central districts such as Hoan Kiem, Tay Ho, Ba Dinh, etc. have reopened to welcome customers. These shops are always crowded, sometimes even overloaded with customers.
