This morning (May 14), Mr. Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected agricultural production and forest fire prevention and fighting in Yen Thanh district. Accompanying him were leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Spring rice yield is estimated to reach 73 - 74 quintals/ha.
In Yen Thanh district, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected the summer-autumn crop production situation in Vinh Thanh commune. As a low-lying commune of the district, the commune urgently harvested spring rice and accelerated the summer-autumn production progress. With the motto "harvest to where, plant summer-autumn rice there", currently farmers are focusing on land preparation and planting summer-autumn rice.
The delegation also inspected the spring harvest in Hong Thanh commune, the organic rice production model, and integrated plant health management to limit the use of pesticides in production. Up to now, Yen Thanh district has harvested about 7,000 hectares/12,700 hectares of spring rice, and is expected to complete the spring harvest by May 20, with an estimated yield of 73 - 74 quintals/ha.
The whole district has also sown about 20 hectares of rice seedlings. In some communes such as Vinh Thanh, Khanh Thanh, Nhan Thanh... people have gone to the fields to sow summer-autumn rice, according to plan, sowing will be completed before June 15.
In Lang Thanh commune, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected the work of forest fire prevention and fighting during the hot season. Lang Thanh commune currently has 20 hectares of pine trees in the period of resin exploitation, most of this area has been cleared of vegetation and made into firebreaks. However, according to the report of Yen Thanh District Forest Protection Department, in the district, there are still many areas of pine forests that are contracted to the community or households for management, there are many shortcomings in forest fire prevention and fighting, many forest areas have not been cleared of vegetation.
After inspecting the agricultural production and forest fire prevention and control situation in the above communes, comrade Nguyen Van De visited and worked at Dong Bac Forestry Development Joint Stock Company. The unit is currently managing 2,400 hectares of forest. Implementing the policy of developing large timber forests and increasing the value of forest production, up to now, the unit has nearly 1,700 hectares of forest certified by FSC; newly planted 102 hectares of sandalwood and houttuynia with a density of 1,000 trees/ha. Working with the working group, the unit representative proposed to pay attention to resolving the disputed area of 200 hectares of land.
Sow summer-autumn crops as early as possible, pay attention to early-season pests and diseases.
Directing the key tasks in the coming time, comrade Nguyen Van De requested Yen Thanh district to continue to lead and direct to take advantage of favorable weather, focus on quickly harvesting spring rice; at the same time, urgently prepare the necessary conditions for summer-autumn production according to the motto "the sooner the better", especially for communes in low-lying areas, flooded at the end of the crop. Promote closed production solutions, not to let the situation of abandoned fields happen more and more.
In production, pay attention to solutions to limit early-season damage caused by brown planthoppers and white-backed planthoppers moving from spring rice to summer-autumn seedlings and the risk of causing black-striped dwarf disease in summer-autumn rice; farmers are advised to spray insecticides before transplanting, and after harvesting, it is necessary to clean the fields, remove residues, apply lime and organic fertilizer to treat the soil before sowing.
Along with summer-autumn crop production, Yen Thanh district must focus on forest fire prevention and control because the district has a large pine forest area and many shortcomings in fire prevention and control. The district must have solutions to direct, clear vegetation and build firebreaks, minimizing the risk of forest fires during the hot season./.
