These three bridges play a strategic role in completing the province's transport infrastructure, forming a continuous connection from Ho Chi Minh City through Long An to Tien Giang. Thereby, the project will contribute significantly to strengthening the connection between the Mekong Delta with Ho Chi Minh City and international gateways, reducing pressure on National Highway 1, National Highway N2, National Highway 50; at the same time, ensuring safe and efficient transport of goods and passengers, contributing to reducing congestion, traffic accidents and environmental pollution.
Specifically, Can Giuoc Bridge is about 568m long, designed with a 90m steel arch main span, 6 lanes wide. The approach road to the bridge is about 1.482km long, with a design speed of 80km/h.
Vam Co Dong Bridge is about 1,356m long, using cable-stayed main span structure (90m + 150m), design load HL93, 6 lanes wide.
Vam Co Tay Bridge is about 1,412m long, using Extradosed main span structure (80m+130m+80m), design load HL93, bridge width 6 lanes.
Long An Provincial People's Committee added that the site clearance project for bridges and access roads has been approved under Decision No. 13092/QD-UBND, dated December 16, 2024.
Upon completion, the project will contribute to promoting the development of key economic sectors of the province such as agriculture, fisheries, industry, services and tourism; at the same time, improving transportation capacity, attracting investment, serving national defense and security requirements and gradually improving the quality of life of people in the area./.
