Promoting the role of people in building grassroots cultural life

In hamlets and neighborhoods in the province, this movement is increasingly going into depth, clearly demonstrated through practical activities such as: building a civilized lifestyle, cultural families, cultural residential areas; organizing art and sports clubs, etc., creating a space to connect the residential community.

Grassroots culture - vitality from the community

Long Thanh Poetry Club (in Long Thanh commune) is one of the cultural highlights that attracts a large number of elderly members in the communes of Long Phuoc, Phuoc Thai, Long Duc, etc. to participate. With regular monthly meetings, the club becomes a useful spiritual playground for members to exchange and share their love of poetry written by themselves about their homeland, country and the beauty of everyday life.

Chairman of Long Thanh Poetry Club Do Van Mai said: 2025 marks the 11th anniversary of the establishment and development of the Club. Up to now, the Club has published 3 poetry collections. The valuable thing is that the Club maintains regular activities, each meeting takes place in an intimate atmosphere, filled with sincere emotions. People come to poetry with a voluntary spirit, with love and joy of sharing with the desire to preserve cultural beauty and spread inspiration to the younger generation.

On August 4, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Document No. 577/SVHTTDL-VH to the People's Committees of communes and wards in the province on guidelines for implementing the Movement of All People Uniting to Build a Cultural Life and Organizing Activities of the Grassroots Cultural and Sports Institutions System. In particular, Dong Nai continues to promote propaganda for the movement's activities in 2025; at the same time, organize cultural and sports activities to attract people to participate. The implementation aims to ensure effective implementation of the 2-level local government model, contributing to improving the cultural and spiritual life of the people.

Not only poetry, clubs of amateur music, quan ho folk songs, xam singing, then singing and tinh lute; or yoga classes, health exercises, martial arts, badminton, table tennis... are also strongly reviving in many wards and communes such as: Bien Hoa, Dong Xoai, Loc Ninh, Trang Bom, Thanh Son, Dong Tam... These grassroots cultural models contribute to creating conditions for all ages to practice and develop comprehensively both physically and mentally.

Ms. Tran Thi Sau, a member of the Long Hung Ward Traditional Folk Song Club, shared: “As a worker, I joined the club to find joy after work. Every time I perform, I can express my emotions through Quan Ho and Xam singing melodies, I feel relieved and proud to preserve the cultural identity of my homeland.”

According to Mr. Phan Hoang Vinh, Secretary of the Party Cell of Nam Do Hamlet, Dong Tam Commune, building a grassroots cultural life must start from familiar things such as: mobilizing people to maintain environmental hygiene, practicing civilized lifestyles in weddings, funerals, festivals, building cultural families, etc. From that foundation, new movement activities have the conditions to spread. The atmosphere of community activities at cultural houses is therefore increasingly vibrant, connecting the village spirit and the sense of preserving the cultural identity of each person.

Building a healthy cultural environment

In practice, the grassroots cultural life in Dong Nai has recently been built from the community's own internal strength. In particular, the combination of traditional and modern culture is opening up a new direction for the movement to build grassroots cultural life. Many localities have applied technology to organize online cultural and sports activities... attracting the participation of all classes of people.

Provincial Party Committee member and Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Thi Ngoc Loan said: Building a grassroots cultural life is not only associated with preserving identity, but also contributes to creating a healthy cultural environment - an important factor promoting socio-economic development and international integration. Therefore, in the coming time, the sector will continue to focus on building and perfecting criteria sets on cultural environments in families, schools, communities, agencies, businesses, etc., forming ethical standards and behaviors appropriate to the context of modern society.

“The industry will continue to promote the implementation of civilized codes of conduct, especially in the social network environment. Promote the role of people in building a cultural life through mobilizing the community to participate in eliminating backward customs and practices, building a cultural and progressive lifestyle in weddings, funerals, and festivals. Emulation movements and cultural campaigns will also be improved in quality, creating a widespread spread in the community. All aim at the common goal of building and developing a comprehensive culture and people of Dong Nai” - Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Loan emphasized.
