Under the brilliant sunshine of early summer, when lotus buds begin to bloom in the sky and land of Nghe An, it is also the time when people from all over the country eagerly return to President Ho Chi Minh's homeland, making a pilgrimage in the sacred and proud atmosphere of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
On the roads, lines of vehicles were bustling towards Uncle Ho's hometown (Nam Dan district, Nghe An province) and Kim Lien special national relic site, red flags with yellow stars fluttered, groups of people in neat clothes, holding flowers in their hands slowly walked with reverent faces, towards the simple thatched house where Uncle Ho cried when he was born.
In that sea of people, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien from Dong Thap could not hide her emotion: “I traveled by car for nearly two days to get here. After many years, now I finally see with my own eyes the thatched roof house where Uncle Ho was born, so simple and dear. With every step, my heart aches with admiration and emotion for the life of our nation's leader.”
Pham Thang’s family (Hanoi) brought their two children along, stopping by the areca trees in front of the thatched house, listening to the tour guide tell touching stories about Uncle Ho. “I want the children to see with their own eyes where Uncle Ho lived during his childhood, to see that from the simplest things, a great man grew up,” Thang shared.
Entering the space of Uncle Ho's hometown, Sen Village, visitors are immersed in the sound of wind blowing through the bamboo, birds chirping on the thatched roofs and the scent of lotus in the sunlight. At the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House, hundreds of delegations, armed forces, students and tourists lined up in a long line, solemnly offering incense to commemorate his spirit.
By the lotus pond next to the relic site, old people sat on stone benches, telling each other memories of the day of reunification, memories of the resistance war mixed with pride. A group of tourists wearing red shirts with yellow stars chattered together taking photos and listening to the tour guide's stories about Uncle Ho.
According to the Management Board of the Kim Lien National Special Relic Site, during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, despite the extremely hot weather, the number of visitors increased dramatically. On average, there were more than 1,500 groups with more than 20,000 visitors per day. The reception and security work was organized methodically and thoughtfully by the Management Board of the Relic Site and local authorities. Food service points all committed to not increasing prices, ensuring hygiene and friendliness to visitors.
