Vietnam Day 2025 for the first time in Finland: A bridge to strengthen friendship between the two countries

Delegates attend Vietnam Day 2025 for the first time in Finland.

On August 16, at Narinkkatori Square, the center of Helsinki, Finland, "Vietnam Day" took place, the largest cultural diplomacy event of the Vietnamese community in Finland to date.

The program is organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Finland in coordination with Vietnamese associations in Finland such as the Organization for Culture, Language and Cooperation of Vietnam in Finland (Bizi Vietnam), the Vietnamese Association in Finland, the Association of Vietnamese Intellectuals and Professionals in Finland (VPF), and the Vietnamese Students Association in Finland (VSAF).

Vietnam Day 2025 is accompanied and sponsored by central and local government agencies such as Helsinki, Espoo, Tampere, Business Finland, many organizations and businesses, and the enthusiastic participation of a large Vietnamese community. The event attracted about 5,000 attendees right at the central square of the capital Helsinki.

Vietnam Day 2025 takes place on the occasion when all Vietnamese people at home and abroad are jubilantly celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day September 2, and is also the year the country celebrates many important historical events of the nation such as the 50th anniversary of national reunification, the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday.

With the theme “The Era of Rising”, the event brought the image of a Vietnam rich in identity, proud of its long history but dynamic, innovative, integrated and aspiring to reach far. The image of the Bronze Drum and Lac Bird were chosen as the highlight for the 2025 theme image - symbolizing the origin, enduring vitality and aspiration to fly far of the Vietnamese people in the new era.

Ambassador Pham Thi Thanh Binh delivered the opening speech at the event.

Speaking at the opening session, Ambassador Pham Thi Thanh Binh emphasized the importance of the event in strengthening community solidarity, enhancing exchange and cooperation between Vietnam and Finland, and affirmed that the country's great achievements over the past 80 years have created a solid foundation for Vietnam to confidently step into the "new era".

On this occasion, the Embassy awarded Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Certificates of Merit from Ho Chi Minh City to a number of outstanding organizations and individuals who have made positive contributions to community work in 2024.

Attending Vietnam Day 2025, guests experienced a variety of unique Vietnamese cultural and artistic activities from dancing, Vovinam martial arts performances, traditional Ao Dai performances; enjoying Vietnamese culinary space with famous specialties such as pho, banh mi... to attending the Vietnam-Finland trade and investment exhibition and promotion area: Introducing tourism, economic, investment products, connecting cooperation opportunities between Vietnam and Finland.

At the event, there was also a family entertainment area with traditional folk games to help connect and preserve culture for the young generation, attracting the attention and appreciation of international friends.

At the end of the opening session, the Ao Dai parade with the participation of delegates and guests at the event brought everyone an image of graceful Vietnam, rich in national cultural identity.

On this occasion, a series of seminars were held on strengthening Vietnam-Finland cooperation, preserving and maintaining the Vietnamese language, inspiring stories from Vietnamese experts and intellectuals in Finland, and working skills in Finland... and received positive responses and contributions from experts and scholars from both countries, bringing a lot of information and knowledge to interested people.

Vietnam Day 2025 is not only a cultural and culinary festival, but also a bridge to strengthen the Vietnam-Finland friendship, spreading the image of a brave, creative, and potential Vietnam, moving towards an era of peace, cooperation and sustainable development.
