This buckwheat flower garden belongs to Ms. Tran Thi Tuyet's family (Ko village, Chu Dang Ya commune). As a local tour guide, Ms. Tuyet is always wondering how to attract more tourists to her hometown. In 2018, she joined a motorbike taxi team to transport tourists to the top of Chu Dang Ya mountain for sightseeing and experience. In 2022, with the desire to enrich the landscape at the foot of the mountain, she planted a butterfly flower garden for tourists to take photos and check-in.

This flower garden has attracted a large number of visitors, but Ms. Tuyet still wants to innovate to make the garden more impressive and beautiful. In early August 2023, she started planting buckwheat flowers, a famous flower loved by tourists in the northern mountainous region.

“Gia Lai also has some people growing buckwheat flowers, the flowers are also very beautiful but do not have the majestic mountain scenery like the Northwest. This year, I chose buckwheat flowers to create something new, attractive to people and tourists,” Ms. Tuyet shared.

Ms. Tuyet bought buckwheat seeds from the Northwest and sowed them in two areas with different blooming times, with the largest garden covering about 4 sao. To create a highlight for the flower garden, she and her husband created an Olympic symbol with 5 circles. The favorable weather helped the plants grow and develop well. Currently, the buckwheat flower garden has begun to bloom. The delicate white petals mixed with light pink create a poetic scene amidst the vast mountains and hills.

“After researching the blooming time of the trees and the time of the wild sunflower festival, I calculated the area so that when the wild sunflowers begin to fade, visitors will not be disappointed because there are buckwheat flowers. Currently, the garden is charging 20,000 VND/person for photo check-in, mainly to cover the cost of seeds, planting and care,” Tuyet confided.

After the images of the buckwheat flower garden at the foot of Chu Dang Ya Mountain were shared on social networking sites, many people came to visit. Most locals and tourists expressed their excitement at seeing this flower in the middle of the majestic Central Highlands.

Ms. Pham Thi Ha (Hoi Thuong Ward, Pleiku City) shared: “On weekends, my friends and I go looking for places with beautiful scenery to take check-in photos. At this time in Chu Dang Ya, wild sunflowers have just begun to bloom. In addition, there is a buckwheat flower garden. The garden is quite large and beautiful, the road is convenient, especially located right at the foot of the mountain. When taking photos with a view of the volcano, it is no different from being in the Northwest”.

For tourists from far away, this is an unforgettable experience. Ms. Nguyen Thu Huong (Ho Chi Minh City) excitedly said: “During a business trip to Gia Lai, I visited Chu Dang Ya volcano. Although the wild sunflowers have not yet bloomed, the volcano still has its own beauty with majestic scenery. Especially there is a buckwheat flower garden. I really like this flower because it is small, pure and typical of the Northwest. I didn't expect that buckwheat can also be grown here, the flowers are very beautiful".
