Accordingly, after reviewing schools from 168 wards, communes, and special zones in Ho Chi Minh City after merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau provinces, in the new school year 2025 - 2026, Ho Chi Minh City needs to recruit 4,865 more teachers from preschool to high school. In which, the shortage of teachers this school year is not uniform across all levels and subjects.
At the primary level , Ho Chi Minh City needs teachers who can teach many subjects the most, with a shortage of up to 801 teachers this year.
Next, also at the primary level, the second most needed number of teachers is in fine arts, with a shortage of 205 teachers.

Responding to Tuoi Tre , the leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that this year Ho Chi Minh City will recruit teachers in a different way than last school year.
Accordingly, this year the department will recruit teachers from preschool, primary, secondary and high school levels through examination.
Specifically, the recruitment of teachers for this school year will be carried out in 2 rounds. Round 1 will check the recruitment conditions on the Recruitment Registration Form according to the requirements of the job position. Round 2 will be a practical test to test knowledge and professional skills according to the requirements of the job position.
Besides, after the merger, the education sector of Ho Chi Minh City still faces a situation of local surplus and shortage among subjects and schools throughout the city.
In the coming time, in parallel with recruiting teachers according to demand, the department will also have plans to reduce the local surplus and shortage of teachers, encourage young teachers to volunteer to teach in schools in remote areas...
Specifically, after implementing the recruitment, the department will have a rotation plan for units that have surplus or shortage in some subjects throughout the city.
The leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that in the coming time, the department will also review and inspect to evaluate the situation of decentralization and delegation of authority in teacher recruitment with the People's Committees of wards, communes, special zones and affiliated units.
If the units are capable of carrying out recruitment work, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City will advise the City People's Committee to decentralize or delegate recruitment authority after the department has trained and guided the recruitment implementation according to regulations.
What are the conditions for registering to become a teacher in Ho Chi Minh City?
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, according to the Law on Civil Servants, in addition to the requirements of personal history, health, diplomas, certificates suitable for the job position, etc., candidates who are of legal age and have Vietnamese nationality and reside in Vietnam can register to apply for teacher recruitment.
