A Vietnamese translator receives the title 'Friend of Chinese Literature'

According to the Chinese Writers Association, translator Nguyen Le Chi has just received the title 'Friend of Chinese Literature' awarded by the President of the Chinese Writers Association, Truong Hong Sam.

This title honors the translation of Chinese literature by veteran translators from various countries selected by the Chinese Writers Association. Nguyen Le Chi is the first Vietnamese translator to be awarded this title.

Hope to become a useful literary bridge for Vietnamese - Chinese readers

The award ceremony is part of the 7th International Conference on Chinese Literature Translation for Sinologists , taking place from July 20 to 24, organized by the Chinese Writers Association in Nanjing City.

This year's conference revolves around the theme of Translation for the Future, bringing together 39 famous Chinese writers such as: Liu Zhenyun, Dongxi, Tat Phiyu... and 39 literary translators from countries such as: Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Mexico, England, Turkey, Spain...

Speaking to Chinese press, translator Nguyen Le Chi said that reading and translating good stories is her lifelong hobby:

"Having the opportunity to translate excellent literary works, especially Chinese literature, is a lucky opportunity for me.

Thank you to the Chinese writers who have written good stories for me to share and enjoy with Vietnamese readers over the past 25 years.

I hope that I will continue my journey of searching and discovering good stories, becoming a useful literary bridge for readers of both Vietnam and China. Sharing Vietnamese literature to China and other countries is also something that I always hope for and strive to do."

Previously, translator Nguyen Le Chi also received a certificate of merit from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, appearing on the list of 177 individuals who have made positive and important contributions to the development of Ho Chi Minh City's literature and arts 50 years after the country's reunification.

Nguyen Le Chi is the director of Chibooks Company. She is also the first Vietnamese translator invited by actor Liu Xiao Ling Tong to China to attend the 1st International Cultural Conference of Journey to the West in Huai'an City in October 2010.
