Northern and Central regions: Scorching heat, risk of high electricity bills

On the afternoon of July 30, automatic reporting data from the National Electricity System and Market Operation Company Limited ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) showed that electricity consumption continued to increase sharply in all three regions, due to the impact of the prolonged heat wave.

As of 6:30 p.m. the same day, the load in the North reached 23,685 MW, the Central region 3,794 MW and the South 16,673 MW.

Compared to the beginning of the day, the load in the South increased by more than 2,900MW (the highest increase), while the North also recorded significant pressure with an increase of nearly 650MW.

According to the system operation chart, on July 29, the total national load approached the 50,000MW mark during the evening peak hour (one of the highest consumption levels since the beginning of summer).

The North is still hot, the Central region is at its peak of heat.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from August 1, the heat in the North will tend to ease.

However, the hot zone will shift and expand in the Central region, especially the area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang , the East of Quang Ngai province to Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak.

On July 31 and August 1, many places in the Central region will continue to record temperatures above 37 degrees Celsius, with humidity dropping to only about 55-56%, causing a stuffy feeling, easily leading to dehydration, exhaustion and heat shock when working outdoors for many hours.

Prolonged high temperatures not only increase the need for cooling, but also lead to the simultaneous use of electricity during peak hours, potentially posing a risk of overload, electrical short circuits, and equipment fires in homes and production facilities.
