When the light fades

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh (68 years old, from Chu Se, Gia Lai ) recounted the difficult days when his eyes gradually became blurred: "At first, I only saw a little bit of blurriness from afar, thinking it was due to old age. But then it got worse, and I couldn't even see clearly up close. When I went to the doctor, I found out I had cataracts."

Mr. Thanh's story is not uncommon in the Central Highlands provinces, where the rate of elderly people with cataracts is increasing.

Cataracts, also known as dry cataracts, are one of the leading causes of blindness in people over the age of 40. They occur when proteins in the lens build up, clouding the clear structure and preventing light from passing through and forming a clear image on the retina. If left untreated, the condition can lead to complete blindness.

Understanding the suffering of thousands of patients, Saigon - Gia Lai International Eye Hospital has invested heavily in Phaco technology (ultrasonic cataract surgery) - one of the most modern and effective treatment methods today.

Phaco technique works on the principle of using ultrasonic energy to break the cloudy lens into small pieces, then suck it out through a super small incision of only 2.2 mm. The artificial lens (IOL) is then implanted in its original position, helping to restore the patient's vision.

Phaco technology offers many advantages over traditional methods. The incision is small, no stitches, no bleeding, the surgery time is only 10 - 15 minutes and the patient can be discharged the same day.

Service quality is highly appreciated

Located at 126 Wuu, IaKring Ward, Pleiku City, Saigon - Gia Lai International Eye Hospital not only stands out with its modern facilities but also boasts a team of experienced doctors. The doctors here all have more than 30 years of experience in the field of ophthalmology, are well-trained and regularly updated with the latest advances in world medicine.

The hospital's equipment is imported from advanced countries, ensuring high accuracy in diagnosis and treatment. In particular, surgical procedures are performed in internationally standardized operating rooms, with modern sterilization systems and single-use medical supplies, completely eliminating the risk of cross-infection.

After more than 10 years of operation, Saigon - Gia Lai International Eye Hospital has successfully performed more than 20,000 eye surgeries of all kinds, of which cataract surgery accounts for the highest rate. Patients recover good vision after 24 hours after surgery.

Understanding the increasing demand for medical examination and treatment of the people, the hospital has expanded its network with the Myopia and Amblyopia Control Center on the first floor of the 126 Wuu building and the Kon Tum Eye Hospital at 33 Trieu Viet Vuong, Kon Tum City. This system helps people in the Central Highlands provinces easily access high-quality medical services without having to travel far.

In particular, the hospital accepts examination and treatment under national health insurance without requiring a referral, creating maximum convenience for patients. Working hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day, including Saturdays and Sundays, ensuring timely service to patients.

With the motto "Bright eyes, peaceful mind", Saigon - Gia Lai International Eye Hospital constantly invests in upgrading equipment, training human resources and expanding specialized services. The hospital's goal is to become the leading ophthalmology center in the Central Highlands region, bringing light and hope to tens of thousands of patients with eye diseases.
