At a press conference on August 21, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade said that the city's total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue from the beginning of the year to date reached VND1.07 trillion, up 15.5% over the same period last year, the highest increase in many years. This result is attributed to the policy of reducing value-added tax to 8% and a series of large-scale concentrated promotional programs.
Branded product promotions take place continuously
Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung, Deputy Head of the Trade Management Department of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that the "Shopping Season - Summer Shopping 2025" promotion program will take place continuously from now until September 15 and the second phase from November 15 to December 31.
The special feature is that the program allows businesses to implement many forms of promotions with deeper discounts than usual, creating great opportunities for both sellers and consumers.
One of the most anticipated highlights is the "City Sale" chain - large-scale branded product promotions - held at many major shopping centers in the city.
This year, for the first time, the "underground shopping" space at Ben Thanh Metro Station (Line 1) was put into operation, directly connecting to Vincom Mega Mall Thao Dien, not only bringing a new and modern shopping experience but also forming a commercial route connected to public transport.
According to the organizers, City Sale 2025 will bring together more than 500 domestic and foreign brands, spanning many product categories from fashion , cosmetics, accessories to household appliances, with discounts of up to 80%. The event is expected to attract 30 to 50% more visitors than last year, contributing to making Ho Chi Minh City a leading shopping destination in the region.
In addition to large-scale promotional programs, the city also launched many community-oriented activities such as mobile sales to serve workers, or the "Responsible Green Tick" program to help consumers feel secure about product quality. Communication activities were promoted with the participation of hundreds of influential faces on social networks.
For the first time, Ho Chi Minh City's consumer stimulus activities have been accompanied by HDBank and Vikki digital bank, bringing many cashless payment incentives as well as direct credit support to consumers.
"With a series of synchronous solutions, Shopping Season 2025 will be an important boost to promote purchasing power, support business growth, and at the same time actively contribute to the city's socio -economic development goals," emphasized Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung.
