After the national resistance war against the French colonialists (December 19, 1946), the number of war invalids and martyrs increased, and the lives of families with policies were very difficult. On February 16, 1947, President Ho Chi Minh signed Decree 20/SL regulating the regime of war invalids and martyrs. Dong Loc T-junction, in Dong Loc commune, Ha Tinh province, is a historical site associated with the heroic sacrifice of 10 female youth volunteers in the resistance war against the US to save the country. This is a strategic traffic hub on the Truong Son route, often heavily bombed by US aircraft to cut off the supply route from the North to the southern battlefield. On July 24, 1968, Squad 4, Company 552, General 55 of Ha Tinh Youth Volunteers was tasked with filling bomb craters and repairing roads to ensure smooth traffic. While on duty, the 15th bomb attack of the day was dropped by the enemy, burying all 10 girls. Their sacrifice has become a beautiful symbol of revolutionary heroism, of the spirit of "Determination to die for the Fatherland". Their names have gone down in history like immortal flowers in the heart of Mother Earth.

Nam Martyrs Cemetery was built in 1978, located on a hill of Nam mountain with a total area of over 22,000 square meters, in Son Chau commune, old Huong Son district (Ha Tinh), now Tu My commune. This is the resting place and memorial place of more than 1,230 martyrs. Most of the graves here are of soldiers, soldiers, and Vietnamese volunteers who participated in international missions in Laos and Cambodia, of which Laos is the most. At Nam Martyrs Cemetery, there are 3 mass graves discovered by the collection team in Laos: the first grave has 73 martyrs, the second grave has 30 martyrs, the third grave has 8 martyrs.
