Proposing that Ho Chi Minh City has a strategy to retrain and improve workers' skills

Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, chaired the conference.

Also attending the event were members of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee: Vo Ngoc Thanh Truc, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union; Bui Thanh Nhan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation.

The conference acknowledged comments on sustainable economic development, associated with environmental protection, synchronous economic development with culture and society; ensuring progress, social equity and comprehensive human development index.

Delegates proposed many solutions to continue perfecting the contents of tasks and solutions, especially those related to strong breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation, growth model innovation, private economic development, creating momentum for rapid and sustainable development.

Giving specific comments, Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation Phung Thai Quang commented that to build a livable, civilized, modern, and humane city, it is inseparable from ensuring material and spiritual life and promoting the role of workers. They are both the subject and the beneficiary of development achievements.

Mr. Phung Thai Quang also said that the development of the city cannot be separated from improving the material and spiritual life of the people, workers and laborers. According to him, taking practical care of workers and laborers, improving the quality of human resources, and building harmonious labor relations are both a social security task and a sustainable development strategy of Ho Chi Minh City.

In the context of Ho Chi Minh City transforming its growth model towards digital economy, circular economy, high-tech industry and high-quality services, human resource quality is a prerequisite to realize Ho Chi Minh City's strategic development goals.

Therefore, he proposed that the city should have a strategy to retrain and improve workers' skills, helping them have stable employment opportunities, better income and living conditions. At the same time, he proposed to build a retraining roadmap, support job conversion for unemployed workers, develop a public employment service ecosystem, as well as add separate policies for female and older workers.

In terms of gender equality, Permanent Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Union Trinh Thi Thanh suggested that Ho Chi Minh City needs to have stronger solutions in the work of female cadres. At the same time, she recommended adding specific targets on the proportion of women in leadership positions, especially in the fields of technology, economics, and science. Ms. Trinh Thi Thanh also proposed building a database on potential female cadres in Ho Chi Minh City.

Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Farmers' Association Do Ngoc Huy suggested that Ho Chi Minh City needs to comprehensively assess agriculture , rural areas and rural residents, develop a master plan suitable to the characteristics of each region, linked to the goal of social security, and improve the quality of life of the people. The development of smart, green rural areas must link agricultural production with industry and services, aiming for a harmonious connection between rural and urban areas in the spirit of "village in the city, city in the village".

Concluding the conference, Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc affirmed that the cause of innovation and integration requires long-term vision, great political determination and above all, the consensus of the entire political system and all classes of people in the city. Therefore, he directed to continue researching, revising, perfecting and making practical contributions to the document, ensuring that it meets the requirements, worthy of being Ho Chi Minh City, the economic locomotive, the center of innovation and creativity and an important driving force for the country's development.

Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc emphasized that as Ho Chi Minh City develops, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the city's socio-political organizations have a role to play in contributing to the spirit of promoting the combined strength of the entire political system, with the internal strength of the great national unity bloc of Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to building the foundation, shaping the development path of Ho Chi Minh City not only in the next 5 years but also in the longer term, so that Ho Chi Minh City - the city honored to be named after beloved Uncle Ho - continues to carry out the mission of "for the whole country, with the whole country" and contribute to the whole country.
