Dong Khoi Ben Tre Special National Monument

The Dong Khoi Ben Tre movement opened the first offensive and uprising of the Southern revolution, opening the endless crisis of the US - Diem government, as General Hoang Van Thai commented at the conference summarizing the resistance war against the US to save the country of the Ben Tre people in July 1982: "Dong Khoi Ben Tre has gone down in history as the leading flag, it has a worthy position in the resistance war against the US to save the country in the South and deserves to be the homeland of Dong Khoi with all its content and nature". With the approval of the Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of Ben Tre province, from 1992 to present, the decision was made to choose January 17 as the traditional revolutionary day of the province. On December 22, 2016, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 2499/QD TTg, recognizing Dong Khoi relic as a special national relic.

The special national relic site of Dong Khoi Ben Tre is located in Dinh Thuy commune, Mo Cay Nam district, Ben Tre province - where the historical event of Dong Khoi Ben Tre took place, opening the Dong Khoi movement of the revolution in Southern Vietnam. Ben Tre is the homeland of coconuts, Ben Tre is the cradle of the Dong Khoi Ben Tre movement of the long-haired troops of the past who made Dong Khoi. The Dong Khoi movement has been over 60 years, the Dong Khoi torch is still shining brightly forever, always the pride of generations of Ben Tre people. The Dong Khoi Ben Tre relic site was decided to be built by the Provincial People's Committee in 1998, in a campus with a total area of over 4,600 m2. The project was inaugurated and put into use in 2000.

On the right hand side of the road leading to the relic site, there is a beautiful and unique red stone, placed majestically and firmly on a spacious three-step pedestal. The surface of this stone is engraved with eight golden words that the Central Government has awarded to the people and armed forces of Ben Tre province: "Brave Dong Khoi. Defeated the Americans and destroyed the puppets".

Dinh Thuy Traditional House was built tall and modern with many rooms displaying images, artifacts, and relics related to the historic Dong Khoi movement that year and the glorious revolutionary struggle of the army and people of Mo Cay district in particular and Ben Tre province in general.

Coming here, everyone seemed to see the past through coconut clappers, machetes, sky horse guns, homemade bombs, areca spikes, and models of fighting villages. Those primitive weapons combined with the spirit of uprising as fierce as a broken dam made the enemy terrified and panicked... The Dong Khoi movement in Ben Tre has entered the history of Vietnam's revolutionary tradition, a brilliant milestone in the resistance war to save the country of the Vietnamese people.

On the roof of the relic museum is the image of "Dong Khoi Flame" which impresses visitors and creates an aesthetic look for the relic.

Around there are the Dong Khoi Ben Tre relic site which was recognized by the Ministry of Culture - Information, now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as a National Historical - Cultural Relic in 1993 and was recognized as a Special National Relic in 2017. It has become a red address to educate the tradition of patriotism, the spirit of steadfastness and indomitability for future generations. Green grass, a large yard with flower beds and ornamental plants add to the beauty of the relic site.
