Difficulties in taking water samples for monitoring in Cam Thach vermicelli village

Việt NamViệt Nam10/03/2024

Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Cam Lo district Nguyen Thanh Cong said that, implementing the plan of the district People's Committee on relocation and inspection of environmental protection work of production households in Cam Thach vermicelli craft village, Thanh An commune, the unit has coordinated with the Provincial Center for Natural Resources and Environment Monitoring to take samples to assess the quality of wastewater during the vermicelli production process in this craft village. However, the process of taking samples encountered many difficulties.

According to the plan, the Provincial Center for Natural Resources and Environment Monitoring took water samples from 4 households specializing in vermicelli production in Cam Thach vermicelli village, including households: Hoang Khuong, Vo Dinh Du, Hoang Thi Hai and Phan Dinh Phuc. However, only samples were taken from Mr. Hoang Khuong's household.

The reason is that some households discharge wastewater from vermicelli production together with daily domestic wastewater; some households temporarily stop production, and at the same time claim that the water from vermicelli production is used for pig farming...

It is known that to overcome the environmental pollution in Cam Thach vermicelli village, Cam Lo District People's Committee has deployed the construction of a concentrated production area, an area of 3.3 hectares with a wastewater treatment infrastructure system, traffic roads, and electricity to relocate households specializing in vermicelli making out of residential areas.

However, up to now, only 1 household has relocated, 4 households have completed infrastructure and factories but have not relocated for production, 5 households have only laid the foundation, and the remaining 10 households have not relocated.

“Based on this sampling, the Provincial Center for Natural Resources and Environment Monitoring will analyze and assess the level of water pollution in this craft village to help the district find the next step in handling the situation. At the same time, the unit will continue to coordinate in taking samples to monitor other households in the coming time,” Mr. Cong added.
