International audiences surprised by Vietnam's school musical

The musical inspired by the legend of Trong Thuy and My Chau attracted much love from the audience when it was performed at the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III).

After a successful performance in Ho Chi Minh City, the musical The Enchanted Crossbow , inspired by the legend of Trong Thuy and My Chau, continued to be performed at the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III). This play was performed by students of Victoria School.

The English musical The Enchanted Crossbow is not only the pride of the students but also a cultural gift that contributes to the vibrant atmosphere of DANAFF III in Da Nang.

On stage, this legend is recreated with a creative combination of tradition and modernity. Highlights include the Kim Quy god rapping in youthful English, and songs like Mom loves me or Bong bong bang bang performed in two languages, making the play more attractive.

"I was moved to tears at the final scene of the female protagonist. A modern way of storytelling while still preserving traditional values. It was truly a surprise to see the young generation of Vietnam standing on the international stage and conveying the national story with creativity and global language," shared a guest from Korea.

Master Christopher Bradley - Principal of Victoria School - South Saigon shared: "We are proud that the student musical project is not only well received domestically, but also has created a ripple effect at international events. This is part of the comprehensive educational philosophy that we aim for, where students not only develop knowledge, but also nurture emotions, train their courage, and become global citizens with strong national identity".

Previously, when staging this play, the program's general director - Meritorious Artist Anh Tuyet also praised the students. She said: "I am very impressed with the professionalism, confidence and acting ability of the students. It is that natural, pure emotion that created a well-prepared and emotional play."
