Mobilize at least 5,000 volunteers to participate in the Red Journey Program in 2024

The Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Quang Tri province has just issued a plan to organize the 8th Red Journey Program - 2024 "Connecting Vietnamese blood".

The program takes place from May 28 to July 30, 2024 with the goal of promoting and consulting 8,000 - 10,000 people about voluntary blood donation and congenital hemolytic disease (Thalassemia). It is expected to receive at least 1,500 units of blood, including 500 units of blood on the official day and over 1,000 units of blood at response points. Mobilize at least 5,000 volunteers in localities, units including Red Cross youth and volunteers to participate in the activities of this event.

The main activities will take place on June 17 and 18, 2024 in Vinh Linh district. Mobile blood donation points will be held in May at the Provincial Labor Federation, Dakrong district; in June at Dong Ha city and in July at the Provincial Police Department, Trieu Phong district.

The activities include recruiting volunteers; organizing communication activities to promote voluntary blood donation, thalassemia; activities to return to the source (visiting the Martyrs Cemetery of Vinh Linh district); parades, mobile propaganda; opening the program "Red Journey" (7:00 a.m., June 18); Blood donation festival "Red drops of fire land".

The purpose of the program is to widely propagate among cadres, civil servants, public employees, union members, association members and all classes of people about the fine traditions and ethics of the Vietnamese people "Love others as you love yourself"; raise awareness of all levels, sectors, socio-political organizations and people about the noble meaning of voluntary blood donation, and at the same time actively mobilize participation in blood donation and organize social humanitarian activities.

Expand the number of voluntary blood donors, encourage and promote blood donations of 350ml or more, increase the rate of repeat blood donors and regular blood donors, contributing to overcoming the blood shortage in the summer of 2024.
