Attracting 2.7 million tourists on April 30, Ho Chi Minh City tourism earned more than 15,700 billion VND

The above information was announced by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism this morning (May 4). Accordingly, in 15 days, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed about 2.7 million visitors, about 355,000 international visitors.

The 5-day holiday alone (April 30-May 4) recorded 1.95 million visitors, more than double that of last year's holiday. Revenue during these 5 days is estimated at VND7,138 billion, up 120.6% compared to VND3,235 billion for the April 30, 2024 holiday.

With a large number of guests, the room occupancy rate at hotels reached about 95%. Particularly, the group of 1-5 star hotels in the central area, where it is convenient to watch parades, fireworks... always reached 95-100% occupancy. Of which, the 4-5 star group had no more vacant rooms from April 27 to May 1.

In the neighboring areas of District 3, Binh Thanh, Thu Duc City, and Phu Nhuan, accommodation establishments also recorded room occupancy rates of 80% or more. The peak on April 30 and May 1 saw a sharp increase in the number of guests, causing many hotels in the area to be completely full.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, since mid-March, many hotels in central districts such as District 1, District 3, District 4 and Phu Nhuan have recorded fully booked rooms.

In addition to the explosive room capacity, the travel business sector in Ho Chi Minh City also recorded a sharp increase in purchasing power for inner-city tours and short-term tours of 30-35% compared to 2024. In particular, many tours visiting historical sites, with in-depth content, combining real-life experiences and local cuisine increased by 30-50%. Typically, the tour series "Saigon - Gia Dinh Impressions", "50 Years Back"; the program to explore Ho Chi Minh City by double-decker bus, dinner on the train, visit Cu Chi Tunnels... have been fully booked since the beginning of April.

In addition to the activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, the Vesak Festival also took place in Ho Chi Minh City on this occasion. The Tourism Department organized the Binh Chanh District Cultural - Tourism Week in 2025 and the Vesak Festival, attracting the participation of 13,500 delegates including monks, nuns, Buddhists and millions of visitors.
