On the afternoon of May 4, the National Tourism Administration, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that during the April 30 and May 1 holidays this year, the tourism industry is estimated to welcome about 10.5 million visitors, an increase of 31.2% over the same period in 2024, of which about 6.5 million visitors will stay overnight.

The average room occupancy rate at tourist accommodation establishments reached about 70% nationwide; during the first days of the holiday it reached over 80%, with some coastal destinations and Ho Chi Minh City reaching 90-95%.
Due to the long break and hot weather, most tourists choose beach destinations such as: Ha Long (Quang Ninh), Sam Son (Thanh Hoa), Cua Lo (Nghe An), Da Nang, Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, Nha Trang, Binh Thuan, Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Kien Giang...
In particular, to join in the series of special events in the last days of historic April, the trend of tourists traveling to Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern provinces is higher than every year.
Ho Chi Minh City welcomes the largest number of visitors in the country, estimated to welcome 1.95 million visitors, an increase of 101.2% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international visitors are estimated at about 120,000, an increase of 122.2%. Overnight visitors are estimated at about 867,000, an increase of 333.5%. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at VND 7,138 billion, an increase of 120.6% over the same period in 2024.
Quang Ninh province ranked 3rd with more than 1.13 million visitors, an increase of 12% over the same period in 2024, total revenue from tourists is estimated at 3,121 billion VND, an increase of 41% over the same period in 2024. Khanh Hoa province is estimated to welcome more than 1 million visitors, an increase of 3.63% over the same period in 2024, total revenue from tourists is estimated at 1,377.4 billion VND.
Hanoi is estimated to welcome 875,200 visitors, an increase of 18.64% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international visitors are estimated to reach 136,190, an increase of 55.35%. Total revenue from tourists is estimated to reach VND 3,150 billion, an increase of 25.21%. Average room occupancy rate is 69.67%, an increase of 9.27% over the same period in 2024.
Ninh Binh is estimated to welcome over 700,000 visitors, an increase of 48.9% over the same period in 2024, with total revenue from tourists estimated at over 1,000 billion VND. Da Nang is estimated to welcome over 610,000 visitors, an increase of more than 50% over the same period in 2024, with total revenue from tourists estimated at over 2,426 billion VND.
Hue City is estimated to welcome 351,000 visitors, an increase of 219% compared to 2024, with total revenue from tourists estimated at 730 billion VND...
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, before the April 30 and May 1 holidays and in preparation for the 2025 summer tourism peak, many stimulus activities have been implemented by localities and businesses.

Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Ha Van Sieu said that during the recent holiday, most localities and businesses proactively developed and implemented measures to ensure security and safety of tourism activities, food hygiene and safety, and to prevent unfortunate accidents and incidents.
However, there are still some tourist accommodation establishments canceling rooms booked by guests through hotel booking platforms; suddenly raising room prices during peak seasons has left a bad impression.
