Vietnam women's team misses Huynh Nhu in match against German club

(NLDO) - The Vietnamese women's team will gather to prepare for international missions in 2025 and a friendly match with German club Werder Bremen.

The Vietnam women's team officially gathered from May 6 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. This gathering of coach Mai Duc Chung and his team is to prepare for important international missions in 2025, including the 2026 Asian Women's Football Championship qualifiers, the Southeast Asian Women's Championship and the 33rd SEA Games.

Under the guidance of coach Mai Duc Chung, the call-up list includes 25 players from many localities. Among them, Huynh Nhu is regrettably absent as she and the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club are preparing for the semi-finals of the AFC Women's Champions League 2024-2025.

In addition, the coaching staff continues to have the support of experienced coaches such as Doan Minh Hai, fitness expert Cedric Roger and two former players Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh and Dang Kieu Trinh.

List of Vietnamese women's team to gather in early May 2025

The players will have their first training session on the afternoon of May 6. The team will have about 10 days to prepare for the international friendly match with Werder Bremen Women's Club (Germany), taking place to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam - Germany diplomatic relations.

This match will take place at 6pm on May 16 at Hang Day Stadium (Hanoi). Before that, the team is also scheduled to have a practice match with Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club on May 12.

VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu said: "The match is part of the preparation plan for important tasks of the national women's team in 2025. This year is a busy year for Vietnamese women's football with many international tournaments.

The Vietnam Football Federation always strives to create maximum conditions for the team to have the opportunity to compete with quality opponents, thereby helping the players accumulate more experience and improve their competitive spirit."

After the first training session, the team will go to Japan for training from June 8 to June 18, before moving to Viet Tri (Phu Tho) to compete in Group E, Asian qualifying round from June 29 to July 5.
