Deer gives "huge" antlers, owner refuses to sell for nearly half a billion dong
(Baohatinh.vn) - A deer at Nhat Thuan farm (Ha Tinh) caused a stir when it possessed a pair of antlers weighing nearly 4kg. Even though someone offered 450 million VND to buy the deer, the farm owner still firmly refused to sell.

This deer with a pair of "huge" antlers was raised by Nhat Thuan deer farm in village 8 (Son Giang commune, Huong Son) 6 years ago. Thanks to careful care and good genetics, the deer grew very healthy. Right from the first antlers, the deer produced a pair of antlers weighing more than 1.2 kg with 6 branches. In the following years, the antlers of this deer continuously increased in weight and number of branches, showing outstanding development. This year, the pair of antlers of this deer is estimated to weigh nearly 4 kg, be more than 35 cm long and stand out with a rare multi-bud structure. The "huge" value of the pair of antlers has been confirmed in the market when there are customers willing to "close" the price at 14 million VND/kg. However, because the antlers are still in a good development stage, Mr. Thuan decided not to harvest them yet.
Sharing about this special deer, Mr. Ho Van Thuan - the farm owner said: "When hearing that the family had a precious deer, many people came to buy it at a very high price, some people offered up to 450 million VND, but I did not sell. I consider this deer a priceless asset, not only in terms of immediate economic value but more importantly, an extremely valuable genetic resource for breeding and herd multiplication. Even though the price was high, I still decided to keep it to develop my family's deer herd, and at the same time hope that next year the deer will give a larger pair of antlers." In addition to the above deer, Mr. Thuan's family currently owns a large-scale deer farm with 150 deer. From selling antlers and breeding deer, the family earns more than 1.3 billion VND each year, affirming the economic efficiency of the traditional deer farming model in Huong Son.
