More than 150 experts from 11 countries attend the International Conference on Libraries and Publishing

The conference is an interdisciplinary forum for delegates to present research results, share and discuss innovations, trends and practical challenges in the field of libraries and academic publishing.

On August 20, in Gia Lai, the Vietnam Science Association and the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) opened the "International Conference on Information Science, Library and Publishing" (ICLISSP2025).

More than 150 scientists , policy makers, managers, researchers and graduate students from 11 countries attended the conference.

Among them were many prestigious speakers such as: Ms. Janine Schmidt, former Director of Trenholme Library, McGill University, Montreal, Canada; Ms. Margaret Law, Deputy Director of University Library (responsible for International Relations), and Director of Copyright Office at the University of Alberta, Canada; Associate Professor, Dr. Do Van Hung, Head of the Faculty of Information and Library, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi ; Associate Professor, Dr. Songphan Choemprayong, Faculty of Library Science, School of Arts, Chulalongkorn University (Thailand); Dr. Espéran Padonou, Executive Director of the Vallet Foundation (France)...

With the main topics of information science, digital libraries, open science, electronic publishing and user services in the digital age, the Conference is an interdisciplinary forum for delegates to present research results, share experiences, discuss innovations, trends and practical challenges in the field of libraries and academic publishing, and propose solutions in the context of globalization and digital transformation.

The conference also contributes to consolidating and expanding the international scientific cooperation network for participating units, promoting information sharing, innovation, training and capacity building...

The conference was organized with many diverse topics, including: 2 seminars on "Promoting international integration for Vietnamese scientific journals" and "Application of AI in library work: tools, skills and strategic orientation."

At the conference, delegates heard keynote presentations at the plenary session on the new role of libraries in the digital age, especially with AI, open publishing, global metadata and digital transformation.

In addition, the conference also devoted time to organizing parallel discussion sessions with 6 topics: applying new digital technologies and artificial intelligence in academic libraries; open learning resources and the leadership role of libraries in educational transformation; transforming academic libraries: adaptive leadership, service quality and user expectations; digital transformation in academic and research libraries: governance, practice and innovation; applying innovative technology and developing information capacity to transform libraries in higher education; shaping scholarly communication: policies, publishing models and data-driven analytics.

Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Gia Lai province, Vo Cao Thi Mong Hoai, said that in the digital age, fields such as information science, digital libraries, open science and electronic academic publishing are not only advanced research directions but also play a strategic role in promoting knowledge sharing, expanding access to information and ensuring knowledge equity on a global scale.

This conference will open up many practical cooperation opportunities, contributing to shaping standards and policies in the fields of libraries and academic publishing, while creating new values for the international scientific community.

The conference is also an opportunity for Vietnamese policy makers, managers, scientists, postgraduates and young researchers to seek cooperation opportunities, learn from experience, improve professional capacity in the field of libraries and academic publishing, and develop their future careers./.
