Project kick-off workshop "Supporting agricultural livelihoods to adapt to climate change to enhance the role of women in disadvantaged communes"

Today, July 3, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Tri province in collaboration with Plan International Vietnam organized a workshop to launch the project "Supporting agricultural livelihoods to adapt to climate change (CC) to enhance the role of women in disadvantaged communes". Attending were representatives of Plan International Vietnam and related departments, agencies and sectors.

The project is funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) with a total cost of 1,096,142,000 KRW (equivalent to more than 19 billion VND). The project will be implemented from March to December 2025.

At the workshop, project representatives presented an overview of key objectives, including: Supporting livelihood activities to adapt to climate change for 1,000 smallholder farming households, with priority given to ethnic minority women aged 18-40; improving capacity and knowledge on gender equality, climate change and sustainable livelihoods for 100 representatives of local authorities and organizations; and raising awareness for nearly 18,000 community members in key communes on issues related to climate change, gender equality and sustainable agriculture .

The workshop aims to help stakeholders clearly understand the direction and method of project implementation. At the same time, the workshop also plays an important role in strengthening close coordination and commitment to responsibility among authorities at all levels, agencies, mass organizations, development partners and local communities in the process of project implementation, to ensure effectiveness, sustainability and suitability to local realities; officially starting a series of activities to support livelihoods and promote the role of women in developing climate-resilient agriculture in Truong Son and Dan Hoa communes in the period of 2025-2027 with a total budget of more than 19 billion VND.

The project “Supporting agricultural livelihoods adapted to climate change to enhance the role of women in disadvantaged communes” will contribute to improving the lives of ethnic minority women in Truong Son and Dan Hoa communes through supporting agricultural livelihoods adapted to climate change to enhance the role of women in disadvantaged communes; creating a favorable environment for women to participate in socio -economic development activities in the community.
