Not only a military leader, Mr. Tran Trong Anh Tu is also a researcher and the first person in Vietnam to obtain a doctorate in tennis. During his time managing the tennis court in the Youth Cultural House and as Head of the Tennis Department of the Central University of Sports 2, Mr. Tu has diligently researched and painstakingly collected, compiled, and edited all the playing styles, technical and tactical pieces of many athletes from amateur to top level in the world .

Since then, he has created many valuable documents for tennis. These books and publications not only serve the teaching, learning and research of students and lecturers, but also make an important contribution to the development of more specialized resources for sports . He himself has also coordinated with the Vietnam Tennis Federation and the Ho Chi Minh City Tennis Federation to organize short and long-term courses, impart knowledge and train, develop and build a modern coaching team, suitable for today's reality.

Don't want tennis to fall behind

Although he has now retired and settled in the US, Mr. Tran Trong Anh Tu continues to pursue his teaching and coaching career abroad. He is also concerned about Vietnamese tennis in the face of the strong development of pickleball, which has caused a large number of tennis players to "change direction", including many big names. However, what has caused Vietnamese tennis to stagnate is the paradoxes that have existed over time without a satisfactory solution. For example, the training and coaching process is not yet stable, the tournament system has been better consolidated but is still thin. In particular, investment to nurture talent, maintain the position and strength of Vietnamese tennis is still very limited.

Therefore, Mr. Tran Trong Anh Tu decided to donate all of his nearly 500 books and publications to the Ho Chi Minh City University of Sports. "I hope that these documents will be inherited and promoted by generations of lecturers and students, contributing to improving the quality of training at the school, especially in the field of training and competition. The important thing is to rekindle the passion and love for tennis again to keep the fire burning together, adding strength to the country's tennis to make changes and improve the quality so as not to fall behind," said Mr. Tu.

The Board of Directors of Ho Chi Minh City University of Sports and Physical Education assessed that these are useful documents, which can be considered a scientific research project with practical value, not only making practical contributions to the school but also demonstrating the feelings and responsibilities of a former coach and lecturer who was very passionate about the country's tennis. This is also a source of spiritual encouragement for staff, lecturers and students to continue researching, studying and practicing.
