On the morning of July 2, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Lao Dong Newspaper held a ceremony to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the "Proud of the National Flag" program. The program was honored to welcome Ms. Truong My Hoa - Former Vice President; Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan - Former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Mr. Phan Nguyen Nhu Khue - Head of the Propaganda Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Mr. Duong Ngoc Hai - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, along with leaders and former leaders of localities; the People's Armed Forces; universities, accompanying organizations; businesses... to attend.

The program "Proud of the National Flag" was officially launched and implemented from June 1, 2019. This is a practical and meaningful activity organized by the Lao Dong Newspaper, thereby wishing to convey great messages about love for the country, national pride and the responsibility of each Vietnamese child in preserving and protecting the sacred territory of the Fatherland.

Over the course of 5 years, the program "Proud of the National Flag" has organized and coordinated more than 310 events nationwide, presented and signed contracts to present 2,118,120 national flags to 54 provinces and cities.

Of which, 1,214,370 flags from the component "Millions of national flags with fishermen at sea" were given to fishermen in 28 coastal provinces and cities; 370,150 flags from the component "Flags of the Borderlands" were given to border guards and people living along the border in 25 provinces with land borders and 533,600 flags from the component "Flag Road of the Fatherland" to build more than 750 flag routes at historical and cultural relics in 44 provinces and cities nationwide. In Ho Chi Minh City, the "Flag Road of the Fatherland" is present in most localities.

Sharing at the ceremony, Journalist, Dr. To Dinh Tuan - Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Head of the Program Steering Committee, emotionally expressed that the program "Proud of the National Flag" has far exceeded the 1 million flag mark, reaching more than 200% of the target set by the Organizing Committee.

According to Mr. To Dinh Tuan, over the years, the Lao Dong Newspaper has organized many large social activities and programs, accompanying the people of the whole country. Among them, the program "Proud of the National Flag" has a very special meaning.

To carry out the program "Proud of the National Flag", members of the Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper and accompanying units have not been afraid of difficulties and hardships, going up mountains and down seas, to many remote areas of the country to present the national flag.

"The joy of seeing with our own eyes the flags from the "Pride of the National Flag" Program fluttering all over the country, practically contributing to arousing pride in the country and joining hands to protect the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland is a great motivation for us to be determined to carry out the program. And that is also the great meaning of the "Pride of the National Flag" Program - Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper emphasized.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Phan Nguyen Nhu Khue said that in recent times, the city has organized many activities towards the border and islands. The National Flag Pride Program is a meaningful and creative activity that has resonated nationwide.

After 5 years, the program has achieved very meaningful results. The image of the red flag with yellow star flying everywhere has become a sacred symbol, aspiration, and strong will of the people to protect the sovereignty of the Fatherland. "Proud of the national flag" makes each of us more radiant about the will of the Vietnamese people", Mr. Phan Nguyen Nhu Khue expressed.

During the implementation of the program "Proud of the National Flag", the Editorial Board of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper also carried out many meaningful activities such as giving thousands of medical first aid kits, giving life buoys to fishermen; giving photos of President Ho Chi Minh to ethnic minorities in border areas.

In particular, the program "Scholarship to support ethnic minority students - poor students" founded by Mr. Truong Hoa Binh, former member of the Politburo, former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, managed by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper from 2022 to present has also awarded thousands of scholarships with a total cost of more than 14 billion VND, donated nearly 1,000 bicycles to students who are children of ethnic minorities in border areas, children of soldiers and fishermen who have made efforts to overcome difficulties in studying, contributing to motivating them to rise up in life.

Fisherman Dao Van Tin (Phu Yen province) shared that over the years, fishermen have always received the attention and support of the Party and the State. The National Flag Pride program has helped fishermen feel more secure every time they go fishing.

"Besides us on every trip out to sea, there are also the accompaniment of state agencies and organizations, giving us more motivation to both develop the economy and participate in protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland," said fisherman Dao Van Tin.

During the 5-year journey of "going up the mountains and down the sea" to implement the program "Proud of the National Flag", the collective of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper has established very proud records and has been recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization and decided to award 4 records including: The program to present the National Flag with the largest number in Vietnam; The program to present the National Flag in the most provinces and cities in Vietnam; The program to carry out the most routes to hang the National Flag in Vietnam; The program to carry out the longest route to present the National Flag in Vietnam.

At the Celebration, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper was honored to receive the Emulation Flag, certificates of merit and certificates of merit from the Government, departments, branches and localities.
