The price of SJC gold bars is 600,000 VND/tael away from the record high.

World gold prices increased by 6 USD per ounce, to 3,381 USD. In the US trading session (night of August 4), gold prices increased sharply from 3,354 USD to 3,383 USD. Gold increased sharply when the market expected the US Federal Reserve (Fed) to cut interest rates in September. After the US economic report data, especially the labor market, was quite pessimistic, US President Donald Trump fired the head of the employment statistics agency. Mr. Trump said he would announce a new Fed Chairman and a new employment data statistician of the Bureau of Labor Statistics in the coming days.

Despite the upward trend, gold was strongly competed by stocks, reducing the increase of gold and silver. At the end of the trading session on August 4, the Dow Jones index increased by 585.06 points (equivalent to 1.34%) to 44,173.64 points, erasing the sharp decline in the session on August 1. The S&P 500 index increased by 1.47% to 6,329.94 points, ending a streak of 4 consecutive declines and recording the best increase since May 2025. The Nasdaq Composite index added 1.95% to 21,053.58 points./.
