Rice price today April 8, 2025: Little fluctuation

In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices are currently unchanged. 25% broken rice remains at $370/ton, 100% broken rice at $316/ton, and 5% broken rice at $399/ton.

In the first quarter of 2025, Vietnam's rice exports increased by 2% compared to the same period last year. Although the total rice trade surplus decreased by 49.5%, rice is still one of the five agricultural products with the highest surplus in the country.

In 2024, rice exports will reach a record 9.18 million tons, earning more than 5.7 billion USD. Meanwhile, in 2022, it will only reach 7.5 million tons. This shows the clear growth of the Vietnamese rice industry in both output and value.

The Vietnam Food Association (VFA) aims to reduce the proportion of low-quality rice to below 10% by 2030, while increasing the proportion of fragrant rice, Japonica rice and specialty rice to about 45%. To achieve this goal, VFA recommends policy support from ministries and sectors in building raw material areas, developing high-quality rice varieties, promoting trade and supporting capital and tax refunds for businesses.

At the same time, upgrading logistics infrastructure and planning specialized rice growing areas are also emphasized as key factors to help the Vietnamese rice industry reach further in the international market.
