In order for the forest protection work of the village community to be sustainable, comply with legal regulations, be transparent in spending forest environmental services and enhance the management role of forest owners, the Quang Nam Provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund has just organized a training program for village community members on forest environmental services payment led by the Technical Planning Department with 3 working groups to train the community in communes of Bac Tra My, Nam Giang and Tay Giang districts from March 24 to April 1.

The training was attended by representatives of the Commune People's Committee, the Community Forest Management Board (CFM) and household groups that are currently receiving payment for forest environmental services. The training focused on issues of the Forestry Law and documents related to forest protection teams and community forest management boards; guidance on building village conventions and regulations; guidance on building the organizational structure and spending levels of village CFM; assessment of the form for monitoring and recording forest protection patrols, determining the area and other contents related to community forest management and payment for forest environmental services according to the community handbook.

The training program was exciting, attracting a large number of people to attend and have questions revolving around the training topic. At the training session, the delegation listened to and noted the difficulties of the people in paying for forest environmental services, propaganda work on forest protection and the use of machinery and protective equipment for the people at the village community forest management board. Thereby, the working group synthesized the opinions participating in the training session to promptly answer and resolve the concerns and problems of the community forest management board. At the same time, it is the basis for proposing to the competent authority to supplement and amend the contents and issues to make the payment for forest environmental services more convenient and effective in the coming time.

Through the training program, the Community Forest Management Board will grasp and understand the purpose and significance of implementing the payment for forest environmental services, as well as the rights and obligations of the village community when participating in forest protection work. Equip them with propaganda skills, provide basic knowledge to apply to the management and use of forest environmental services in the community, improve understanding of legal documents for the subjects receiving payment for forest environmental services, especially forest owners who are village community members in mountainous districts of Quang Nam province.
