Most durian farmers in Ea Knuec commune have extensive experience in durian cultivation, applying many advanced scientific and technical solutions to production, proactively meeting the increasing demands of domestic and foreign markets. Although the weather in the 2025 crop year has many unfavorable factors, farmers still strive to adapt and comply with the criteria for safe and sustainable production.
Mr. Huong Van Loi's family (Thanh Xuan village) currently has 3.5 hectares of Dona durian, of which 2.5 hectares are in the VietGAP cultivation area of the Krong Pac Clean Agriculture Cooperative. It is expected that in the next 5-10 days, when the durian garden has the first ripe fruits, traders will inspect and evaluate the quality of the pulp and appearance to determine the purchase price. Mr. Loi estimates that this year's harvest is expected to be nearly 1/3 lower than last year due to the impact of the weather, but he is quite confident about the quality thanks to strict adherence to technical procedures, ensuring that no residual pesticides or heavy metals remain in the durian fruit upon harvest.

For durian purchasing enterprises, ensuring quality requirements is also key in production and business activities. For example, Nam Do Agricultural Products Joint Stock Company (headquartered in Quyet Thang village) has cooperated with farmers to establish 8 growing area codes, with a total area of nearly 500 hectares of durian in Ea Knuec commune. In addition to coordinating to monitor quality management factors and traceability according to export market requirements, right before the main season, the company took fruit samples, tested for cadmium residue and some plant protection active ingredients. The test results showed that all criteria were within the safety threshold according to domestic and international regulations.
The local government has also proactively implemented solutions to propagate and inspect and control the production, purchase and preliminary processing of durian in the area. The People's Committee of the commune has established two interdisciplinary teams to inspect land use activities, construction order, environmental resources; growing area codes, packaging facility codes and durian business activities in the area. Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ea Knuec commune, Truong Van Hieu, said that the locality's viewpoint is to create the most favorable conditions for production and trading activities of people and businesses during the harvest season, but must absolutely comply with relevant legal regulations, ensure the authenticity of the origin of goods, good management of pests and food safety for durian products before reaching domestic and foreign consumers.
According to preliminary statistics, there are about 60 enterprises and warehouses purchasing and producing durian in Ea Knuec commune. Up to now, the interdisciplinary teams established by the People's Committee of the commune have inspected the records and operating conditions of all newly built warehouses; monitored and reviewed warehouses operating in the area, widely disseminated regulations in the fields of labor safety, fire prevention and fighting, environmental protection, etc. The team also made records of some cases that did not ensure the purpose of land use, requiring business owners to promptly remedy the situation in accordance with legal regulations.
In fact, durian purchasing and production activities in Ea Knuec commune have started about 2 months ago with early-ripening durian varieties, mainly Musangking. For Dona and Ri6 durian varieties, traders have begun to survey the quality of the pulp and fruit to negotiate prices and make deposits with garden owners. Purchasing and processing warehouses are also ready to operate at maximum capacity when entering the main season.

As for Nam Do Agricultural Products Joint Stock Company, the company also focuses on environmental sanitation. According to Mr. Le Viet Truong, Deputy Director of the company, after 3 years of operating in the area, the company has arranged a separate land fund to collect and process durian husks. All durian husks generated during the day will be initially processed, crushed, sprinkled with lime and microorganisms. After the durian husks decompose into organic fertilizer, the company will supply them to farmers who need to improve their soil.
In addition to strengthening inspection and supervision of business activities, the Commune People's Committee also directed the police force to increase patrols and ensure traffic safety on village and hamlet roads. At the same time, arrange many security and order checkpoints, respond quickly to reports from the people; proactively prevent acts of property destruction, theft, protection, price gouging, and stake breaking; strengthen propaganda to traders and farmers to comply with regulations on buying, selling, and placing deposits; raise awareness of self-prevention and self-management; ensure the best conditions for a safe and successful 2025 durian harvest.
