Currently, in Kep 11 village, Kep commune, people are entering the off-season pineapple harvest. This is the result of applying scientific and technological advances to production. According to local people, the main pineapple crop is harvested around May and June, coinciding with the harvest time of other fruits such as lychee, jackfruit, etc., so it is difficult to compete and the economic value is not high. Thanks to the treatment of off-season fruit trees, which produce fruit from August to November, even harvesting right on the occasion of Lunar New Year, many households have earned high profits.

A typical example is Mr. Tran Van Tuyen's household, with more than 2 hectares of pineapple land, currently about 0.5 hectares are bearing fruit. According to Mr. Tuyen, after deducting expenses, his family earns more than 500 million VND from pineapple each year. He shared: "Compared to many other fruit trees, pineapple is easy to grow, has few pests and diseases, and growers propagate it themselves, so input costs are significantly reduced. In particular, the tree is very suitable for the local sloping hills." However, growing pineapple off-season also has many potential risks, especially weather fluctuations such as prolonged hot weather alternating with heavy rain. These conditions can easily cause pineapples to have bad appearance and reduce quality. To overcome this, Mr. Tuyen's family and many households have come up with a way to "dress" pineapples such as: Using old sacks cut into small pieces, covering the fruit below the top to limit the direct impact of sunlight and rain. The solution is simple but brings clear results, helping to protect the quality of the fruit, maintain beautiful color and stable sweetness.
In Kep commune, pineapple has become a key crop, bringing high economic value to local people. The whole commune currently has about 200 hectares of pineapple, of which Huong Son Clean Pineapple Cooperative accounts for half of the area with 100 hectares. With an average income of about 300 million VND/ha/year, pineapple not only helps many households improve their lives but also contributes significantly to the implementation of income criteria in the new rural construction program. The cooperative's pineapple products have been consumed in many provinces and cities such as Bac Ninh, Hanoi , Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen... affirming their quality and reputation in the market.
Thanks to the diligence and creativity of local people, a sustainable development direction for pineapples in Kep commune has been opened, contributing to increasing income, improving the quality of life and promoting the increasingly prosperous rural economy.
