The most prominent image in this countryside is the “bright, green, clean, beautiful” roads, contributing to making Xuan Son Nam the first commune in Dong Xuan district to meet the new rural standards (NTM) in 2016 and also the only commune in the district to reach the advanced NTM target in 2020.

Speaking to CAND Newspaper reporters, Mr. Huynh Ngoc Lam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Son Nam commune, said that this locality is one of eight communes in Dong Xuan district that was awarded the title of Hero of the Armed Forces by the State during the two resistance wars. Decades after the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, Xuan Son Nam commune still faces many difficulties and struggles.

However, the Party Committee, government and people of Xuan Son Nam commune are always united, striving to overcome difficulties, and step by step rise up to build their homeland. Especially since 2015, the Party Committee of Xuan Son Nam commune has mobilized the strength of the entire political system to launch the emulation movement "Joining hands and hearts to build new rural areas", "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas"...

In addition to building a general planning project, in line with the socio-economic development orientation in the locality for the period 2021 - 2025, including planning functional service areas to support rural economic development; 100% of intra-commune traffic routes are concreted; the irrigation system is invested in solid construction and installation, ensuring proactive irrigation water sources for nearly 293 hectares, reaching 96.46% of the area; natural disaster prevention work ensures requirements on human resources and means to implement the "4 on-site" motto; the electricity system is also built and installed stably and safely, 1,763 households in the commune use electricity, reaching 100%.

Referring to the NTM indicators on culture, information - communication, education - training, health, environmental sanitation, Mr. Huynh Ngoc Lam said that 100% of schools in Xuan Son Nam meet the minimum standards of facilities, in which two kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools maintain national standards on facilities and teaching equipment. Up to now, Xuan Son Nam has met the standards of universalizing preschool, primary and secondary education; the rate of secondary school graduates continuing to higher education is 95.96%.

The most prominent feature is the infrastructure serving cultural, information and communication activities that have been fully invested in; in addition to the post office, a 481 ^m2 cultural and sports center; a 150-seat multi-purpose cultural hall along with a football and volleyball field attract many cultural, artistic and sports activities; there is also a 5,225 ^m2 cultural park built in 2018 with green landscape, flowers and 11 sets of outdoor sports equipment.

In addition, all 5 villages in the commune meet cultural standards, have spacious cultural houses, sports areas, broadcasting systems, telecommunications infrastructure; the commune's administrative offices have carried out digital transformation well with digital signatures in directing, operating and using online public services at level 3.

Xuan Son Nam is a commune that meets national health standards, 95.31% of people participate in health insurance, of which 85.27% use electronic medical records; 95.57% of households use clean water that meets standards; 100% of production and business establishments commit to and implement good environmental sanitation; the landscape of village roads and alleys is green, clean, beautiful and safe; local mass organizations participate in self-management of many roads, at the same time promote propaganda to raise people's awareness of environmental protection, regularly organize cleaning campaigns, take care of trees, flower streets, etc.

In the journey of building new rural areas and advanced new rural areas, Xuan Son Nam also focuses on building rural commercial infrastructure with a central market with full auxiliary items, ensuring environmental sanitation, fire safety, food safety, and preventing commercial fraud or the sale of smuggled or prohibited goods.

In residential areas, there are no more temporary or dilapidated houses; 100% of families have standard housing; in economic development, attention has been paid to converting crops and livestock with high economic efficiency; promoting afforestation; building high-quality rice production models; intensive farming, increasing productivity associated with product consumption.

On the other hand, the locality promotes the development of small-scale handicrafts with products made from rattan and bamboo, and enhances wholesale and retail trade services for many types of goods. In addition to the two model residential areas of Tan An and Tan Phu, the commune also has a model NTM garden of Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Son with turmeric starch products meeting 3-star OCOP standards... For many years, the economic life of the people has been increasingly improved, with average income per capita in the past 5 years reaching 56.49 million VND/year; the rate of poor and near-poor households has decreased to below 2%.

One of the 19 criteria that actively contribute to making Xuan Son Nam a new-style rural commune and then an advanced new-style rural commune is that national defense and security activities are always focused on, improving the quality of activities of the commune's Military Command and building a "strong, widespread, and comprehensive" militia force.

The movement of All People Protecting National Security has been promoted and spread widely to every village, hamlet, and family, creating a regular way of thinking and working for each citizen, associated with the construction and effective implementation of many security and order models; combined with strengthening measures to fight and prevent crime from the grassroots level, ensuring stable security and order and peaceful life...

Mr. Tran Quoc Huy, Standing Vice Chairman of Dong Xuan District People's Committee, said that according to the plan to arrange commune-level administrative units of Phu Yen province in 2025, Xuan Son Nam commune will merge with Xuan Son Bac, Xuan Long, Xuan Quang 2 communes and La Hai town to establish Dong Xuan commune. The active efforts of the Party Committee, government and people of Xuan Son Nam commune to build a new rural area and then rise to an advanced new rural area in the past time will contribute to creating a more innovative and developed socio-economic appearance of Dong Xuan commune in the future.
