After arriving at Yangon International Airport on the evening of March 30, the Vietnamese force participating in supporting earthquake relief in Myanmar traveled by car nearly 500km to reach the capital Naypyidaw at 3:00 a.m. on March 31.
Sharing right after arriving in Naypyidaw, Major General Pham Van Ty, Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of the National Committee for Incident, Disaster Response and Search and Rescue, Deputy Director of the Department of Search and Rescue (General Staff), Head of the Vietnam People's Army delegation participating in supporting the recovery of the earthquake consequences in Myanmar, said that this morning, the delegation will work with the Myanmar coordination committee to agree on the expertise, content, methods and ways to organize search and rescue.
According to the announcement from your side, the delegation is expected to march to Mandalay city, about 200km from the capital Naypyidaw, because this is the epicenter and has suffered heavy human losses, many of whom are still trapped under the rubble.
Major General Pham Van Ty added that immediately after arriving in Mandalay, the Vietnamese rescue force will quickly stabilize accommodation, organize field reconnaissance forces, determine determination and organize the search for victims.
The Vietnam People's Army delegation will be divided into 3 groups and will search in 3 directions as quickly as possible, in order to minimize damage, loss, and pain for the country and people of Myanmar.
"With a determined spirit, the forces in the working group do not fear difficulties and hardships. Currently, the rescue team of the Ministry of National Defense as well as the Ministry of Public Security present in Myanmar is ready to receive and carry out tasks after discussing and agreeing with the other side," Major General Pham Van Ty affirmed.
