Proposal to retain the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety

(NLDO) - Ho Chi Minh City strictly follows the Central Government's direction but will have proposals according to the city's characteristics.


On the afternoon of December 26, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held its third conference, term XII. Attending were Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Phuoc Loc.

At the conference, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai informed about the arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Phan Van Mai said that the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee will have 27 subordinate Party Committees, including 22 Party Committees of districts, Thu Duc City; Government Party Committees; Party Committees of Party agencies, unions, and judiciary; Military Party Committees; Public Security Party Committees and Border Guard Party Committees of Ho Chi Minh City.

"HCMC is also considering and studying Hanoi's proposal to have a university Party Committee including the National University and other universities. Thus, there will be a total of 28 Party Committees," the Chairman of the HCMC People's Committee added.

As for the government, Mr. Mai said the Central Government has directed that Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will have 15 departments.

However, recently implementing Resolution 98, Ho Chi Minh City proposed a special department, the Department of Food Safety. Ho Chi Minh City sees it as very necessary, so it is developing a plan. Plan 1 is to strictly follow the Central Government's direction. Plan 2 is a special proposal. If the Central Government allows it, the city will have 15 departments and the Department of Food Safety.

"Everything is currently planned by Ho Chi Minh City. The spirit is that the city strictly follows the Central's direction but will have proposals according to the city's characteristics," Mr. Mai informed.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the conference, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Phuoc Loc said that the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee will continue to coordinate with the City People's Committee to participate in building the great national unity bloc and building an increasingly effective government.

Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Phuoc Loc spoke at the conference.

The Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front agrees and supports the city's 22 target groups and recommends that the City People's Committee continue to maintain the growth rate to ensure the completion of the set targets but must be determined to raise the index higher to see the sustainability of the development process.

Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc proposed that the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee continue to pay attention to drastically directing the improvement of the index on granting land use right certificates; drastically directing the development of the city's housing index, including social housing; developing trees and urban green areas, protecting the city's underground water sources; ensuring fire prevention and fighting and other development requirements associated with drastic solutions on reducing environmental pollution and protecting the environment.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ho Chi Minh City will continue to monitor and respond to the contents proposed by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
