The main reason is the high demand for household electricity during the prolonged hot weather, leading to large consumption and increasing electricity prices. In addition, house rental prices and home maintenance materials prices continue to increase due to the recovery of the real estate market.

Some other groups also recorded slight increases, such as household appliances and equipment, up 0.39%; culture, entertainment and tourism, up 0.1%. Two groups of goods saw price decreases: food and catering services decreased by 0.24% due to competitive pressure from Thai and Indian supplies, while domestic rice prices decreased due to the harvest season; transportation decreased by 0.67% due to domestic gasoline and oil prices being adjusted down and car dealers applying promotional programs to stimulate consumption.

Compared to the same period last year, the CPI in April 2025 increased by 4.25%, mainly due to the food and catering services group increasing by 5.58%; the housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials group increasing by 9.52%; the medicine and medical services group increasing sharply by 13.72% after the price of medical services was adjusted according to Resolution 22/2024/NQ-HDND of the Provincial People's Council.
