According to a survey conducted by reporters on the morning of August 15, on National Highway 1A, passing through Chi Lang and Cai Kinh communes, there are hundreds of stalls selling custard apples opened by local people. The stalls are neatly arranged and organized by local people, and there is no encroachment on the road or sidewalk to make a place to sell their goods. In addition, vehicles such as motorbikes and cars of traders and custard apple buyers stop far from the roadside of National Highway 1A, and there is no haphazard parking.
Ms. Nhu Thi Phuong, a custard apple seller at Chi Lang Agricultural Market (Chi Lang Commune) said: Since the beginning of August 2025, we have been propagandized and mobilized by the traffic police and the People's Committee of the commune to sign a commitment to comply with regulations on maintaining security, order and traffic safety when trading custard apples here. Therefore, I arrange the goods within the registered booth. At the same time, I proactively remind customers to stop and park their vehicles inside the market, not on the roadside, which affects traffic safety.
Similar to Ms. Phuong, more than 200 traders selling custard apples at Chi Lang Agricultural Market have all signed a commitment to comply with the regulations. Accordingly, the traders all comply with the display of goods in the market and remind customers to park their vehicles neatly and safely.
According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Chi Lang Commune, in order for custard apple trading activities to take place in an orderly manner and not affect traffic safety and order, the commune has established an Agricultural Market Management Team to carry out the task of traffic flow and reasonably arrange custard apple selling areas, facilitating safe buying and selling. At the same time, mobilize the commune police force, militia, youth union, and organizations in the village to participate in regulating traffic at gathering and purchasing points at the agricultural market, arranging parking lots for customers when coming to transact...
At the same time, the Traffic Police force of Tung Dien Traffic Police Station has proactively checked key areas for traffic safety risks from custard apple trading activities. From there, a plan to ensure traffic safety during the custard apple harvest season in 2025 has been implemented. The unit has clearly identified two key areas with high potential risks in the area: the Chi Lang Agricultural Products Market area and the area in front of the Chi Lang Victory Exhibition House (Chi Lang Commune). These are areas with potential traffic safety risks from custard apple trading activities from August to October.
Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Viet Thanh, Head of Tung Dien Traffic Police Station, said: Since the beginning of August 2025, the unit has directed the traffic police team to patrol and control the route 24/24 hours a day to promptly detect, remind, and handle cases of encroachment on the roadside and violations of traffic safety regulations. In addition, the unit has coordinated with the Commune People's Committee to review and sign commitments with more than 400 business households and residents along National Highway 1A in 2 key areas to comply with traffic safety regulations. Particularly in the Chi Lang Agricultural Market area, during peak hours when custard apples are being bought and sold, the unit always arranges a working group to regulate traffic and monitor compliance with regulations. Thanks to that, traffic safety on the route has always been ensured. Since the beginning of the custard apple season, there have been no traffic accidents caused by custard apple trading activities.
In the area of Cai Kinh commune, Tung Dien Traffic Police Station has also arranged forces to patrol and control the route daily. Through assessment, the households selling custard apples in the above area have arranged stalls to ensure that they do not encroach on the traffic safety corridor; there is no situation where sellers spill out onto the road to solicit customers, causing traffic safety problems. Up to now, in the area managed by Tung Dien Traffic Police Station in Chi Lang commune and Cai Kinh commune, there has not been any case of a household selling in violation of traffic safety regulations.
It is known that the area of custard apple cultivation in the province is currently nearly 5,000 hectares, with an estimated average yield of about 8 - 9 tons/ha. Currently, the buying and selling and transporting of custard apples on National Highway 1A is increasingly bustling. Therefore, solutions from functional forces and local authorities have contributed to reducing traffic congestion and obstruction on the route. Thereby, ensuring safety for people participating in traffic.
