What subjects are included in the combination?

This is a summary of the combinations used for admission this year. In which, the combinations are combined from subjects of both the 2006 General Education Program and the 2018 General Education Program. In which, there are old subjects of the 2006 General Education Program including: social sciences, natural sciences, civic education... New subjects of the 2018 General Education Program such as: information technology, economic and legal education, industrial technology, agricultural technology...

Not only the high school graduation exam subjects, the subject groups also include many aptitude subjects organized by training institutions such as: drawing aptitude, fine art drawing, preschool aptitude, art aptitude, music aptitude, presentation aptitude, journalism aptitude, sports aptitude, etc.

Notably, the list includes a special combination XX1 which is used to name the average score of 6 semesters.

Why are there so many admission combinations?

According to a university admissions expert, the sharp increase in the number of subject combinations for university and college admissions this year is due to the fact that the special high school graduation exam in 2025 will have two candidates: students from the 2006 General Education Program and the 2018 General Education Program.

Accordingly, candidates of the 2018 General Education Program will take 4 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects (math, literature) and 2 elective subjects from the remaining subjects studied in grade 12 (including foreign languages, history, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, economic and legal education, information technology, technology). Candidates of the 2006 General Education Program taking the 2025 high school graduation exam, in addition to 3 independent subjects (math, literature, foreign language), can choose one of 2 combined exams (natural sciences or social sciences).

From the subjects of the high school graduation exam, universities combine 3 subjects to form subject combinations for admission according to the admission regulations. In particular, some traditional combinations are chosen a lot such as: A00 (math-physics-chemistry), B00 (math-chemistry-biology), D01 (math-literature-English)... Besides, many admission combinations are created from old subjects in the 2006 General Education Program such as: A08 (math-history-civic education), A12 (math-natural science-social science)... and many admission combinations are created from new subjects of the 2018 General Education Program such as: X01 (math-literature-economic and legal education), X06 (math-physics-informatics), X23 (math-geography-industrial technology)...

In addition to high school graduation exam scores, university and college admission subject combinations can also be created from aptitude test scores, high school transcript scores, etc. Therefore, the number of actual admission combinations created in university and college admissions this year has increased sharply.

However, according to the 2025 university and college admission regulations, when registering their wishes, candidates do not need to choose a method code, combination code... they only need to clearly identify the program, major, group of majors and training institution they wish to study to decide to register.
