PV: Ambassador, can you share the significance of establishing the Vietnam - Denmark Green Strategic Partnership for cooperation between the two countries?
Ambassador Nicolai Prytz : Denmark is currently one of the leading countries in the green transition process. We understand that, to achieve this, we need to bring the concept of green transition into all areas of life, economy and society. Therefore, the establishment of the Green Strategic Partnership between the two countries will create conditions for the transition process to take place synchronously from the Government level, to ministries and businesses in Vietnam.
It is also worth mentioning that Vietnam is the fifth country in the world with which Denmark has decided to establish this partnership. Therefore, you can clearly see the commitments and priorities of the Danish Government in supporting Vietnam's green transition. Over the past years, we can see the efforts and commitments of the Vietnamese Government in the field of green transition, from the commitment made by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the COP 26 Conference, to participating in the Just Energy Transition Program JETP, or approving the Power Master Plan 8. These are very strong and ambitious commitments. And we, as a long-standing partner of Vietnam, hope that the establishment of a Green Strategic Partnership between the two countries will create conditions for us to continue supporting Vietnam in achieving this goal.
PV: After establishing the Green Strategic Partnership, how will the two sides carry out cooperation activities in this field, Ambassador?
Ambassador Nicolai Prytz: With this partnership, the two sides will focus on three main levels. The first is political relations, enhancing dialogue and exchanging high-level delegations on programs to respond to climate change and green growth.
The second is to strengthen cooperation between the two governments in a number of sectors that are being implemented. The two sides will also discuss to find common views and commitments to be presented at the upcoming COP28 Conference. In addition, Denmark and Vietnam are both members of the Fair Energy Exchange Programme JETP and we will continue to cooperate closely within this framework.
Third, in terms of economy, the two sides will also cooperate to develop appropriate policies and legal frameworks to encourage green investment from the private sector. We will also find new areas to strengthen cooperation, areas in which Denmark has a lot of experience and Vietnam also has a need to develop.
PV: So how will the establishment of the Green Strategic Partnership open up future cooperation opportunities between Vietnam and Denmark, Ambassador?
Ambassador Nicolai Prytz: Denmark started the green transition about three decades ago, and we are confident that we are one of the leading countries in this process. However, not everything that Denmark is doing can be applied in Vietnam. But we believe that some of the solutions and good practices that Denmark is implementing can help you find the most suitable solution. In particular, we not only present effective solutions in Denmark but also programs that have failed, as lessons for your reference.
In addition, the Green Strategic Partnership also helps attract more Danish companies to invest in Vietnam. I am very proud to see that the companies that are already here, not only produce and earn income, but also care about the rights of workers, create job opportunities and contribute to sustainable development, bringing real value to Vietnam.
Besides, Vietnam also has a lot of experience in some areas that we can learn from. We have seen that Vietnamese people are very studious, hard-working and always find creative ways. Danish experts when coming to Vietnam are also surprised by the interesting ways that you are implementing, and have learned to apply in Denmark.
Therefore, I am sure that the relationship between the two countries will develop further, especially in the field of green economy.
PV: Thank you, Ambassador!
