On the afternoon of March 18, at the Government headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha received the Global CEO of APM Terminals Company Keith Svendsen. At the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam and Denmark have a long-standing tradition of friendship and cooperation. Recently, the two countries have established a Green Strategic Partnership. This is also an opportunity for Danish enterprises to invest in Vietnam, especially in the fields of green economy, renewable energy, seaport infrastructure, etc. With its location on an important sea trade route, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that the "problem" posed when implementing the planning of Vietnam's seaport system is to both ensure the optimization of the international trade route and meet the requirements for developing industries, processing, and manufacturing, with a scale and model suitable for the trend of green and smart ports. The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the plan to develop a green fleet and green seaport of APM Terminals Company in the face of increasingly strict technical barriers, environmental criteria, and greenhouse gas emissions for the shipping and seaport industry. With the policy of rapidly converting to renewable energy, Vietnam is ready to create conditions for APM Terminals to pilot the green seaport project, along with a mechanism for direct electricity purchase and sale from renewable energy projects when solving the problems of technology, cost, stability of the base power system, etc. Thanking the Deputy Prime Minister for taking the time to meet, Mr. Keith Svendsen highly appreciated the achievements of the Vietnamese Government in improving the business environment, facilitating foreign investors as well as efforts in digital transformation and green transformation towards the goal of sustainable development. Vietnam's commitment to zero net greenhouse gas emissions at COP26 is also in line with the Company's orientation to develop a green fleet and green ports in the coming years. The global CEO of APM Terminals Company wishes to explore investment opportunities to build the largest and most modern deep-water container ports in Vietnam through digital, lean and green initiatives, proposing to receive support from the Vietnamese Government in the coming time./.baoquocte.vn
