On January 21, speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Colonel Pham Quang Huy - Deputy Director of the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) said that 60 traffic police teams of 30 local traffic police departments on National Highway 1A and 260 officers and soldiers of 7 Highway Patrol Teams under the Traffic Police Department have applied inter-route patrol connection technology to patrol and control activities.

Colonel Huy said that the mobile patrol and control application of the Traffic Police force is connected to the professional database system, compatible with many types of mobile devices to gradually automate and improve the efficiency of patrol and control work, creating the most favorable conditions for traffic participants.

"In the pilot phase, based on photos taken by phone cameras, the application uses AI technology to analyze and identify vehicle license plates so that the data system can automatically check vehicles that have been previously checked by traffic police teams, limiting multiple checks on the route," said Colonel Pham Quang Huy.

The Deputy Director of the Traffic Police Department added that the application also uses QRCode scanning technology, Citizen Identification Cards and Driver's Licenses of drivers to collect information of vehicle drivers quickly and accurately and is connected online to Traffic Police Teams operating on Highway 1A. At the same time, it connects to Traffic Command Information Centers at all levels for management and operation.

"Up to now, we have provided accounts to 1,780 officers and soldiers of 60 traffic police teams of 30 local traffic police departments on the route and 260 officers and soldiers of 7 highway traffic control patrol teams under the Traffic Police Department," Colonel Huy informed.

Shorten traffic police inspection time

According to Colonel Pham Quang Huy, right from the first days of the pilot, the inter-route patrol connection technology has received positive feedback from officers and soldiers directly performing patrol, control, and violation handling duties on the route, as well as people participating in traffic.

The application of technology helps avoid overlap in vehicle control, creating favorable conditions for traffic participants. Traffic Police Teams quickly determine whether the vehicle has been previously inspected or not, the time and location of the inspection to decide whether to stop the vehicle for control or not (except in cases where direct violations are detected), limiting the need to stop a vehicle repeatedly and continuously, causing inconvenience to the driver and passengers.

At the same time, the application helps shorten the control time because the information and legal status of documents related to the driver and vehicle have been shown in the control and violation handling information of the Traffic Police Team before on the application.

In addition, the use of technology helps determine the vehicle's travel route, location information, and time of taking photos of the vehicle's license plate (the vehicle can be stopped for control or not) are all stored in the application's database to reconstruct the vehicle's travel route.

This helps save inspection time for authorities; time for businesses and vehicle drivers; and saves consumables for inspection and control (such as blow tubes, test strips, printed result sheets, etc.).

Currently, the Traffic Police Department is taking steps to deploy the construction of a shared data center to serve the connection and sharing of camera data. Once completed, mobile devices will be provided to the Traffic Police force for patrol and control duties nationwide.

The Traffic Police Department is also urgently researching and building an application specifically for citizens. Through this application, people can exploit utilities related to the traffic sector such as: Looking up information about traffic situations, looking up information about traffic violations, paying administrative fines online... as well as reporting traffic safety and order situations, traffic violation information to authorities for timely handling.
