On the afternoon of October 11, at the Presidential Palace, General Secretary and President To Lam met with a delegation of outstanding businessmen from the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Vietnam Association of Private Entrepreneurs on the occasion of the anniversary of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Day (October 13).
At the meeting, witnessed by General Secretary, President To Lam and many business leaders, Chairman of the Board of Directors of CMC Technology Group Nguyen Trung Chinh gave a speech on the role of enterprises in the era of digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI).
The Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Private Entrepreneurs emphasized the importance of digital transformation for the development of enterprises and the national economy, and made strategic recommendations to promote this process.
Digital Transformation, AI: New Opportunities and Challenges
The Chairman of CMC affirmed that Vietnam is entering a special period with great changes in technology. Digital transformation and artificial intelligence are not only trends but have become urgent requirements for businesses to survive and develop.
He commented: “ Digital transformation is not just about applying technology, but a comprehensive revolution, from institutions to production methods .”
In this context, the Association of Private Entrepreneurs recognizes that digital transformation and AI transformation play a crucial role in the revolution of building new productive forces and new production relations to serve national development.
Over the past few years, AI has demonstrated its huge potential to contribute to economic growth, improve productivity and drive innovation in many fields.
According to experts, AI is forecast to contribute up to 15,700 billion USD, accounting for nearly 14% of global GDP by 2030. This is an impressive number, showing that AI is not just a temporary trend, but also a long-term and sustainable development driver for the world economy.
In his speech, the Chairman of CMC made 5 specific recommendations to the General Secretary, President and leaders at all levels to promote the digital transformation and AI process in Vietnam:
First, strongly support the digital transformation process: There needs to be comprehensive support policies for businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, to help them seize opportunities from new technologies.
Second, training high-quality human resources: To meet the requirements of the digital production force, it is necessary to focus on in-depth training in digital skills and artificial intelligence.
Third, institutional innovation to suit the digital economy: Institutional and legal reforms need to be promoted to facilitate the application of technology.
Fourth, financial support and technological cooperation: Increase access to capital and financial support for innovation projects, and promote cooperation between businesses and research institutions.
Fifth, trust and assign responsibility to private enterprises: Private enterprises need to be trusted and given more responsibility in implementing key national projects.
Private entrepreneurs are pioneers in applying digital technology.
According to reports, the private economy currently contributes 45% of GDP and 40% of total social investment capital, creating 85% of jobs for the total workforce. The private economy accounts for 35% of import turnover and 25% of export turnover.
The corporate income tax contribution rate of the private sector accounts for about 34%. In particular, a large private enterprise force has emerged, accumulating sufficient capacity in terms of capital scale, technology level and corporate governance, with brands reaching out to regional and world markets, becoming an important driving force of the economy.
According to the Chairman of CMC Group, private entrepreneurs are not only leaders in the process of improving production, but also pioneers in applying new technologies such as AI and digital transformation.
He emphasized the role of the Vietnam Private Entrepreneurs Association in connecting and supporting private enterprises to implement digital transformation. This not only helps improve productivity but also creates a strong innovation ecosystem, which is the foundation for Vietnam to become an advanced country in the technology era.
According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh, the Vietnamese business community, especially private businessmen, are facing great opportunities, but also many challenges in the digital age and technological transformation.
The pioneering role in innovation and application of science and technology of the business community will be the decisive factor for the Vietnamese people to rise strongly in the future.
Vietnam needs more businesses like CMC
At the meeting, General Secretary and President To Lam praised and acknowledged the contributions of CMC Technology Group.
According to the General Secretary and President, with digital transformation, the important thing is data. Every activity needs data. Every business needs to put data at the center of its applications and business areas. However, if each business builds its own data center, the cost will be very high and cause many difficulties.
The General Secretary and President said that if a data center like CMC Corporation is rented, the cost of the data center could be reduced from 10 million USD to only 1 million USD. However, there are still quite a few businesses like CMC in Vietnam.
“ We need to develop more businesses like CMC, because the development potential of this industry is so great that we cannot fully anticipate it, ” General Secretary and President To Lam commented.
