The special art program “Hanoi - from the historic Autumn of 1945” is an important event of Hanoi city, part of a series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), while also celebrating major holidays and important historical events of 2025.
The program is directed by the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi city, and organized and implemented by the Department of Culture and Sports of Hanoi city.
This is an opportunity to widely propagate to cadres, party members, armed forces and people of the capital about the great significance of the victory of the August Revolution - a brilliant milestone opening the era of independence and freedom of the Vietnamese nation. At the same time, the program contributes to educating revolutionary traditions, communist ideals, and strengthening faith in the Party's leadership in the cause of national construction and development.

Not only recreating history, the program also arouses pride, encourages patriotic emulation movements, promotes the strength of national solidarity, and nurtures the aspiration to build a prosperous and happy country. Directing the organization, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha emphasized that "Hanoi - From the historic autumn of 1945" is a particularly important program of the capital on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. This is a political art program, but it needs to be presented with newness and appeal, so that the audience can join in, sympathize and touch their hearts.
According to comrade Vu Thu Ha, the program must bear the strong imprint of Hanoi, depicting the role of the capital from the historic autumn of 1945, through the stages of struggle, construction and development. Music and art must clearly demonstrate the strength, resilience and determination of Hanoi over the past 80 years. Each part of the content must have highlights, shining with the "quality" of Hanoi - from costumes to Trang An culture, from the spirit to the pride of Hanoians, so that domestic and foreign audiences can feel, appreciate and admire.

Engrave the spirit of the Capital on the 80-year journey

The art program “Hanoi - From the historic autumn of 1945” brings together a production team of prestigious and experienced artists. Among them, People's Artist Tan Minh is the artistic director, musician Duong Cam is the music director, conductor Dong Quang Vinh conducts the orchestra and Master Nguyen Thi Tuyet Minh is in charge of the script and general director.
“Hanoi – From the Historic Autumn of 1945” includes 3 chapters “Hanoi in the Historic Autumn Days”, “The Epic of the Ho Chi Minh Era” and “Spring Trains”; elaborately and grandly staged, recording important historical slices throughout the 80 years since the successful August Revolution of Hanoi.
As the scriptwriter and general director of the program, Master Nguyen Thi Tuyet Minh shared that the history of the past 80 years will be skillfully recreated on stage, showing the grandeur but also the lyrical and romantic qualities of the people of Hanoi. In the midst of the rain of bombs and bullets, the people of the capital remained steadfast, patriotic, and ready to sacrifice to regain independence and freedom for the Fatherland and the thousand-year-old land of Thang Long.

The program will vividly recreate the historic autumn days on the fiery land of Thang Long, with the sunshine of Ba Dinh and his words echoing forever in the Declaration of Independence; to the heroic epic of the Ho Chi Minh era with the heroic song of Hanoi, along with the fierce fighting days of the Dien Bien Phu in the air battle; then to the spring trains with the sophistication and elegance of Hanoians in the joy of victory, ready to contribute to building the Capital to become more and more beautiful, civilized, and reaching out to enter a new era.
The music of the program opened with “The Internationale” (Pierre De Geyter) and a series of mashups of songs associated with the spirit of the General Uprising such as “Guerrilla Song” (Do Nhuan), “The Call of Youth” (Luu Huu Phuoc), “Destroy Fascism” (Nguyen Dinh Thi), “Together We Go Red Soldiers” (Dinh Nhu), followed by “August Nineteen” (Xuan Oanh) and the climax was the choir “Marching Song” (Van Cao) with the harmony of tens of thousands of spectators creating a heroic and emotional atmosphere.
The program gathered nearly 1,000 artists and actors from many theaters and art forces of the city; Central art units in Hanoi participated. In addition, the program also had the participation of children of the capital; students of art schools and especially soldiers of the Capital Command.
The participation of many famous and beloved artists such as People's Artist Hoang Anh Tu, People's Artist Tan Minh, artist Xuan Hinh, Meritorious Artist Dang Duong, Meritorious Artist Tran Lin, singers Hoang Hai, Van Mai Huong, Lam Bao Ngoc, Dong Hung, Khanh Linh, Trong Hung, Oplus group... will contribute to creating the attraction and impression of the program.
Besides the music and performances, the special highlight of the program is 3 3D mapping projections combined with artistic fireworks, creating a journey of light through time, from heroic milestones, through the brilliant cultural space of Thang Long - Hanoi, to the image of a technological heart looking towards the future of Vietnam.
As a member of the city’s Arts Council, musician Truong Ngoc Ninh emphasized that this is a “sound picture” of Hanoi’s history from 1945 to the present. Each part has new works, selected musical language, combined with modern dance, light, and sound, bringing a special experience value to the audience.
“Hanoi – From the Historic Autumn of 1945” is an open art event, the audience can come directly to the August Revolution Square to enjoy. In addition, the program will be broadcast live on VTV1 (Vietnam Television) and rebroadcast on H1 (Hanoi Radio and Television).
